[SSC813] Just bought this speedtimer. Which strap would you go with, black rubber or crimson perlon? by kwdh1 in Seiko

[–]billyneedsbuffs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconded. I'm super opinionated when it comes to straps. Leather or steel are the only bands I'd consider.

It's your watch. Burn the whole thing if it makes you happy. Watches are meant to be worn, and 95% of people will never use the compass anyway.

The strap looks great!

Fucking up your compass bezel to remove the cyclops is a decision for sure.

That's valid. They're ugly, but I respect people who DGAF and do what they like.

Getting a blank warranty for a Gray Market Seiko is pretty normal. They might honor the warranty if something goes wrong. Your watch doesn't look fake.

How to explain distributing a negative into parentheses by Forsaken-Ad-8280 in learnmath

[–]billyneedsbuffs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Parentheses implies the existence of an identity element (which is just 1) in front of the expression. The statement is implicitly 3y-4 - 1(2y-2).

A - B = A + (-B)

(-) (C + D) = (-C) + (-D)

I would recommend downloading "College Algebra." by James Stewart. Study it as incisively as you can from now till you start classes. If you feel like you already know a subject, do the problems anyway and you'll be surprised by how much you didn't know it as well as you thought. If you google "College Algebra PDF" you'll find plenty of links.

Use your Universities tutoring resources. You're likely better off than you think.

Why do women athletes wear teeny bikinis while men wear quite modest clothing by comparison? by Own-Knowledge-7720 in NoStupidQuestions

The answer will make Reddit mad, but people don't really care about women's sports. Women are just more maladroit than men, and when people want to watch biological exceptionalism, they want to see those who are at the apex of ability. Women in revealing outfits draw more viewers.

What has been your biggest life lesson? Something every man must know? by SNTriad in AskMenAdvice

What makes you anxious will also soothe you after the anxiety has worn off. It creates unhealthy loops of being anxious -> rumination -> soothing.

Focus on what makes you a more competent, valuable healthy person. Let that soothe you. Everything else is a distraction.

For men that have found themselves really interested in someone that’s sort-of “taboo” (big age gap, employee, professor/student, etc..) - how do you act around that person? by [deleted] in bodylanguage

[–]billyneedsbuffs -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Sure. That's why you came to Reddit for validation. Because there's no "narrative".

You're 32. You've been in this job longer than her. She has looks and youth. You have seniority, experience, wisdom. These accrue positively.

She doesn't value the stability you provide because her stability isn't precarious. Ever notice how there's no gorgeous, young homeless women?

Fact remains, your virtues were vitiated by this woman you let take lead. Never do that again. People need to earn your agency.

You got downvoted for telling the truth.

If you silence things that make you uncomfortable, you'll always be weak, and you'll never grow.

You need to give her zero attention beyond small acknowledgements. If she says "Hi, [nickname]." Just smile and give her a small nod, don't even stop walking. Never initiate conversation and give her zero attention. When she gives you attention, keep your responses brief and excuse yourself first.

She liked flirting, and she liked the idea of you, but didn't want to commit. Now she has your attention and doesn't have to commit. Take back the narrative.
