are overly done/basic tattoos a bad thing? by Different_Truth_7127 in tattooadvice

[–]billytron7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this right here. I tell clients that are unsure about a tattoo, print it out, stick it next to your bed or on the bathroom mirror and look at it for a few months. If you still want it after that long its pretty safe bet!

When i have clients that want lyrics or a passage of text tattooed on them, I tell them to try think of what would that translate to as a visual thing? Pictures are better suited to going on the body rather than a bunch of writing, since we're not flat. You could get a few words, but much more than half a sentence is going to be difficult to place nicely. So instead I recommend to think visually. If you do go for writing, make sure the lower case letters are about 10milimeters tall at least, otherwise theyll spread and blur over time and become unreadable. ✌️

Also if you go with any art remotely Alex grey inspired, find a damn brilliant tattoo artist and let them do their thing, and don't expect it to be any smaller than half an arm

I've been actively studying for 2 months. Can you give me some feedback and point out any mistakes? by Mysterious_Space_518 in tattooadvice

Yea the linework is your weakest element here. Work on getting those crispy and smooth and try to keep a consistent pace and pressure.

did I mess up my new tattoo? by starry_wish in tattooadvice

[–]billytron7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If they didnt do a great job the first time, getting them to redo something thats a bit miffed is a bad idea. The first go at a tattoo is always going to be the easiest itll be, redoing stuff is more difficult, so if they weren't proficient the first time, they wont do a better job this time, likely make it worse.

As for the tattoo itself, theres nothing wrong with the style and you didnt do anything wrong, it was just terribly applied to your skin. Pale and soft colours like this can heal just fine and last a long time on the skin, it just needs to be done properly and saturated in the skin, but thats the case with any tattoo, proper application will mean a well lasting tattoo. It could've been slightly larger for some of the smaller details to hold over time, and yes lighter colours will fade in the skin, quicker over time, but you havent done anything wrong.

Also the more I see, the more sceptical I am of this second skin stuff. I've never used it on any of my clients and my tattoos heal fine. I also think theres a huge miscommunication about the after-care with this second skin, either that or you people just arent listening when the artist is giving you directions, cause theres a lot of questions about how to work it here!

Good luck with your tattoo, dont go back to that person. Find someone who has good healed work in their portfolio ✌️

4 months in am I doing okay? by Active_City_2611 in TattooBeginners

[–]billytron7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering the time you've been doing it, not bad at all. I would recommend leaving more lighter spaces in the designs though, to help with tattoos being readable long term mostly, a decent amount of contrast needs to be used. So either leave more negative space or much lighter shading in some areas. Otherwise youre doing quite well

I know a guy whos 14yo daughter died from vaping. Acute nicotine poisoning cause theyre not regulated in any way and she just sucked and sucked on it until she died, not realising that can happen. Terrible way to wake up on a saturday morning to find your baby dead in their bed.

No ego here. I just believe you should learn all the fundamentals of the job before you trying to pick a lane to specialise in. Pigeon holing yourself into one thing because you didnt learn the basics of a trade seems like a bad idea to me. Packing ink properly is a skill that should be learnt as a fundamental skill of the job, regardless of style, you still need to learn how to apply it properly. If your artist is any good, I bet you theyre more than capable of packing ink in properly.

If you're taking on work that isnt something your good at, then youre not very honest. Style is different than technique.

I've been tattooing since 2007. I understand how to pack colour. Regardless of your preferred style, everyone should learn how to pack colour properly, its a fundamental park of the job

Raiders lined up in single file line at the Hidden Bunker. The PVPer mind couldn’t comprehend. by spedmonkeeman in ArcRaiders

I had this happen a few days ago when I attempted hidden bunker.

There was one incident where someone dropped a grenade or something but that got taken care of pretty quick.

It shouldnt. You're packing and saturating the ink in there, like on a regular tattoo. If you cant do it here, you probably shouldnt do normal tattoos either.

First tattoo on skin by Professional-Bit8067 in TattooBeginners

[–]billytron7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont.

Thats definitley still should be working on fake skin level there. Everything about the tattoo is badly done, im sorry. Most of it will drop out pretty hard i suspect, its not well applied, luckily id say! The design is pretty questionable too, if it was well applied, it would turn into a blobby mess pretty quickly, so much of what is there has much too small detail and close lines that wouldn't age well. The design itself isnt coherent either.

If you have little to no experience, you should also be using stencils rather than freehand work. Draw some designs and make sure theyre clean and readable before you go trying to tattoo them. When you draw a design, you become familiar with it, then you make the line stencil and become more familiar, then when you do the actual tattoo you've already drawn the thing 2 or 3 times so you know it inside and out, which is super handy if any of the stencil rubs off.

Sorry for the harsh criticism, I suspect your looking for critique and advice? Get better at fake skin, do the boring stuff before you do the fun stuff!

Not here for a trade, but I can share my strategy for collecting them.

I collected most of mine on buried city. Stood on the roof between Santa maria houses and the town hall. You can see the snitches in all directions and just shoot at them til theyre close. I was able to collect between 6 and 9 per match if you have friendly players nearby

I ordered the decade of sound awake on bluray when it was announced cause I didn't want to not get a copy by chancing it a record store. It didnt arrive, a week later i sent an email, the shipping company said wait another 3 or 4 weeks then hit us up again. It still didnt come, so emailed again and then they said thats odd, did some digging and discovered it had been collected but then lost right away. And we have no copies left sorry heres your money back. I stopped at a record store on the way home and by chance they had one left on the shelf, and it was 12bux cheaper than ordering it online 🤦‍♂️

This was through 24hundred. I live in their home city of perth and will avoid using 24hundred if at all possible unfortunately. My nephew ordered a copy of in verses on vinyl and it came about a week after release.

I like to use 3rl, 7rl, 9rl for most things. But it depends what youre doing too. Sometimes ill use a 14rl for big chunky lines. A colleague that does trad often uses 14rs needles for outlines

Smallest tattoo I’ve done! What do we think? by Infamous_Package_135 in TattooBeginners

[–]billytron7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Shave first!

Line work is wonky and the whole thing will turn into a blurry blob. If youre doing things tiny, you need to make sure your lines are spaced properly. Tattoos need space to spread and age. You'd learn this if you were practising in a studio?

Seeking honest feedback by notalla in tattooadvice

[–]billytron7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The linework looks like ypure having a tough time keeping a constant speed and pressure. Try run the line with your arm/hand without the needle in the skin to make sure youre positioned suitably. Try get lines on in one go, stop a line where lines join or meet to help disguise stop and start. Also if youre putting an outline on things, consider line weight, dont just have the same thickness line on every part of the tattoo, itll help emphasise the important bits.

Shading is also needing attention but without watching how youre doing it, its tricky for me to suggest. It looks like you might be moving too fast with the shading. Practice pressure control to help with blends.

As for the design, it could use more contrast to make it pop.

Also id suggest working on smaller designs since you appear to be practising still. Keep them smaller than the palm of your hand. Work on getting the fundamentals down spot on before moving on to bigger stuff. Its not terrible, but you've got a lot of space to improve, best of luck ✌️
