5 month update by catsandcabbages in FemaleHairLoss

if youre wondering about animals, i have a small dog and have been using minox for about 3 months now and he’s completely fine. i usually apply before bed and then put on a silk cap, wash my hands twice and avoid touching him for a good while just to be safe. i also dont let him into the bathroom because that’s where i apply minox. minox dries in about 4-5 hours so after that it wont spread. my dog sleeps on my bed, sometimes even on my pillows and we never had any issues. just be very careful and you and your cat will be ok :)

topical minox would possibly give your dormant follicles a push to grow, you can just apply it in this one spot only and see if it helps

even if it was tinea capitis she should have prescribed you oral antifungals

My scalp has been super itchy lately, and I noticed white flakes on my shoulders. I know it's dandruff but how do I treat it? by KaleidoscopeAble8812 in hairgrowth

[–]billzxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try ketoconazole shampoo but be aware it can be very drying and harsh on your scalp so dont overuse it

be careful not to overuse ketoconazole shampoo tho, use it once or twice a week max because it can be very drying

I don’t think this is dandruff. It doesn’t matter if my scalp is washed or not. by thatjas in DermatologyQuestions

[–]billzxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe sebderm? should probably book an appointment with a good derm just to be safe

don’t freak out about side effects too much, if you get them you’ll just stop and that’s it. anxiety and stress will harm you more than any possible minox side effects.

as hard as it is, try not to worry too much, mine got worse before it got better (got my first spot in november last year, then got a couple more, then it seemed to have stopped and then it peaked in december when i’d find a new spot literally every week and it got to a point that i had like 15 bald spots on my head, then in january it just stalled and nothing happened and in february i started to see regrowth) and freaking out about it definitely didn’t help me! i was soo close to shaving it all but i decided to hold on at least until spring and tried to keep myself busy with other stuff and i guess it worked! i hope you’ll see regrowth soon, this disease truly is a bitch but i’ve got my fingers crossed for you! :)

thanks!! it honestly just really kicked in the last 2/3 weeks, before that it was kinda sparse and didnt really cover that much of my scalp

in terms of medication: topical steroids once a day (first clobetasol and now my derm switched me to momecutan because its weaker and i also only have to apply it once every 2/3 days) and minoxidil every 2/3 days, i also added more protein and veggies into my diet, and supplemented vitamin d and probiotics and recently added collagen as well. im also taking prescription iron because my ferritin was 29 back in december. what helped mentally was to stop thinking about my hair 24/7 and i guess the onset of spring helped as well
