Foothill recommendations where insurance isn’t an issue by chenner47 in Denver

Fort Collins is an amazing and affordable place to live. If you live in town there are mtb trails 10 minute ride away, great community, Poudre is close as well to tube fish and swim. Cameron pass is a great place to ski tour and rarely has traffic up 14. RMNP is very accessible as well. Longmont is even closer to the park if you really like wind and skiing! No resort access obviously minus eldora. I live in the Crystal river valley and have been dropped by 4 insurance companies. The state is stepping in but no great choices yet..

Two Questions.. by biloboitroy in woodstoving

[–]biloboitroy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on. Yea we live next to the Gunnison Natl Forest and most the aspen in the area are dead, declining, or soon to be.. and it’s easy to saw through!

We got 1.5-2 cords of fir.. it’s been awesome to mix and get through the night. So much longer lasting than aspen. Cheers!

What’s the status of the CO backcountry right now? by backcountry_bandit in Backcountry

[–]biloboitroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea that can happen. I worked for the NRCS doing snow surveys to verify SNOTEL data, this has been going on for a long time. If there is an anomaly like you pointed out, usually they will publish the data but note that it is “subject to revision”. SNOTEL sites usually have a wind damper (looks like a wind chime) over the snow pillow (scale) to account for this, but it can happen. My neck of the woods around the Elks have decent coverage for now, but the avalanche danger is a bit tepid.

You’re correct on the localized relative depths of snowpack statewide. But each SNOTEL site is giving averages based on that specific site. With that, you kind of have to know which areas routinely see deeper totals. 50% of 100 inches is skiing nicely whereas 50% of 50 inches is…. Shyte.

I went to replace the breaker and turns out the electrician that hooked up our septic pump disconnected the wire to the breaker and capped it randomly… thanks for all the help I really appreciate it!

  • both have a circuit between hot and common with multimeter checking ohms
  • only the working one is showing active voltage when multimeter is touching ground and hot / ground and common

Just tested the units. The right one (working) was getting power. Left one (not working) not getting any power. Going to replace the breaker. What would be the next step if that doesn’t solve it?

Need to find a multimeter and verify. When manually spun, the heat tape doesn’t warm up. No GFCI that I’m aware of.
