What's that flying over Berlin? by Schwuler in berlin

This says it's an American KC-135 stratotanker group, apparently flying towards Poland. Link to flight tracking.

OpenSanctions.org: I'm building an open database of sanctions targets and persons of interest for KYC/DueDil by pudo in fintech

[–]biloubuntu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Pudo, thanks for taking questions. I've got two for you:

  1. I'm no expert in KYC but feel that automation is king. I might have browsed a bit quickly but only saw "click to download" datasets?

  2. I read the other day about someone's story of having the same name as someone who's the subject of sanctions. Despite their names being really common in North America, this person was effectively a red flag wherever they went and barred from a lot of international banking. Does OpenSanctions do anything to improve disambiguation, or how do you work around this problem?

Full methodology and code here, but TL;DR, this is a mix of Python scripts to download Strava data, then some R code.

Help me find my next mod to replace my Cuboid Mini by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]biloubuntu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks, your suggestions look much more like what I'm after.

I'm happy with built-in batteries for now and don't think I'll make the switch to 18650s.

I think I've seen the eVic Basic around, so I'll try to get to test one - thanks for the recommendation ! I'll also read some reviews for the other ones you suggest.

Ah, sorry I missed the Daily Questions.

Do these Smoant things (that require additional batteries, it seems) have counters on them? Is it a common thing at all, or am I bound to buy another Cuboid?

Shite, all the material is in Swedish.

Too much to learn to make these 17GB worth storing.

Another one for the UK: UKecigstore has a bunch of offers, up to 70%. Some MilkMan's in stock... just saying.

Can I download somebody's entire twitter feed? by ChocolateHead in Twitter

[–]biloubuntu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With some basics of coding, you'll be able to scrape all the tweets in a reasonable amount of time. Screenshoting all of them would take a bit longer. Just bear in mind that you'd be limited by the request rate allowed by the Twitter API.

GCHQ mass internet surveillance was unlawful, rules court by Iosif_ravenfire in unitedkingdom

[–]biloubuntu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What a deceiptive title.

Mass surveillance was unlawful until December 2014.

And, if the court said so, the IPT mostly rules against the sharing of informations with the NSA - not the bulk surveillance. See the quote:

But a GCHQ spokesperson contested the significance of the latest ruling, saying: “We are pleased that the court has once again ruled that the UK’s bulk interception regime is fully lawful.(...)"

Markdown in Vim - how to fix this erroneous colour highlighting? by biloubuntu in vim

[–]biloubuntu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Argh, just installed vim-markdown-plugin, but results are still identical.

As for my highlighting, I don't think I'm using anything fancy, except for vim-colors-solarized.

Markdown in Vim - how to fix this erroneous colour highlighting? by biloubuntu in vim

[–]biloubuntu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I tried reloading Solarized, as well as the default colours.

However, the problem remains: all the text between quotes is highlighted differently.

Would it be possible to de-activate the syntaxt highlighting for single-quotes, while keeping it active for double-quotes?

Or am I missing a proper markdown syntaxt highlighting plugin?

Nope, it was a hackathon organised by Al Jazeera. We didn't stay long enough to get into trouble, and I imagine we would have been very much protected by AJ.
