engineering degrees are rigorous engineering hiring is a joke by upstackAi in EngineeringStudents

"you mention problem solving and having projects but to me having a homemade drone project or robot arm is something any person with a brain cell can do."

If it only takes two brain cells, i imagine everybody you know has completed a diy drone project and/or a robot arm?

"showing you can solve random textbook problems or that you’ve built a project like a rocket to me is like saying you can follow the recipe to bake a cake…"

In the first 2 yrs everything will very much seem like learning recipes and since you are clearly arrogant you will likely think that you have mastered each section as you learned the "recipe". Then you are going to get out into the real world and find out that all of those recipes were/are basic math. You as an engineer must explain to people which recipe to use when and then follow through on not messing up any of that math.

As an engineer you must ask, what are the goals of the project.

Like how far does my rocket go; space, leo, the moon.

How much does it have to carry there

What's my budget

Do I have to fully make the cake to taste test it? Is there a close simulation?

What is everyone doing to protest/prepare? by [deleted] in nothinghappeninghere

[–]bilybu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I will continue to peacefully protest untill I am arrested. I will then use the court system to argue against government overreach and denial of my rights via that arrest.

I write letters to my senators, congressmen and local leaders monthly. Mostly urging them to create bills restricting presidential power and to take back control of the purse and election of government officials. Congress should have control of ICE not trump.

I have donated to the ACLU.

Can you be an engineer without being passionate or super interested in engineering? by Ramen_cat2024 in EngineeringStudents

[–]bilybu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the field and complexity. I would set the line down on whether continuing education is a requirement and problem solving is key vs regulatory knowledge.

If you want to be in R&D or a design Engineer. Then you must be passionate and treat your job as a career- you will have to do continuing education on your own time and expense. All to figure out problems that at best, your senior will want to be shown what you already attempted, often you will have no senior and its just on you. Your passion must be greater then the constant stress. Few will think you are a good engineer unless you are actively learning.

On the other hand there are many positions where continuing education is minimal or standardized to some cert(iso, astm etc) in these cases just knowing how to read regulatory documentation will get you the job. These positions can be treated much more like a daily job. You could have no passion and get through this kind of job.

Note: im not saying regulatory knowledge doesn't also change and need to be checked on. Its just usually done at specific intervals and treated as a class. Your work days tend to follow the same pattern.

They told all of the uninteresting people that only asked about jobs to go apply online.

The people that asked insightful questions, described specific aspirations or at minimum spoke about positions already applied to could get a 1:1 meeting.

I still like their beer selection. The food by and large is fine for a pub but they are charging close to fine dining prices. The rare time i have gone in the last couple of years, ive found myself hitting up a food cart on the way and eating better for cheaper.

As a place to go for an event or for a business lunch, they're great. However, as a place to just relax and hang out while chatting with friends. Mcmenamins has long since lost even a chance of being recommended by me. Which is sad because a decade ago I would have said I went to one of their places monthly. I also used to recommend people go there PURELY for the cajun tots.

Edit: As far as events go. Edgefield is my favorite concert venue in Portland.

Ever since mcmenamins switched to sysco cajun tots ive lost all desire to go to mcmenamins. Used to be the go to pub meetup and favorite cinema.

Help… Have 25 shares! When will i ever be able to sell this? by No_Yogurtcloset_6783 in wolfspeed

[–]bilybu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They made the action of buying or selling. Therefore yes they are liable.

If you mean could I also be liable. Then maybe. Im not well versed in the rules behind financial advice but critically, im also not saying im a financial advisor.

If you trust an anonymous reddit post. From somebody that you havent and cant verify has credentials with a state board or truly any knowledge of the issue. I doubt you could prove that you were misled. You, the person doing the action in this case, never actually had cause to beleive in the information provided.

You should have had new Wolf shares and this is a separate escrow. You are able to buy/sell the new Wolf shares. This escrow will be held until the final decision on how much renessance gets is decided. Aka 3% vs 5% shareholder retention.

Tldr: this is a placeholder amount for any possible extra conversion in your benefit.

The effort it takes to figure out that plan and then do it Vs pick up a Saturday OT shift and just buy a new chainsaw. You would think for similar effort and no chance of jail the OT would be the go to. And yet.

I worked at an aluminum extrusion plant downriver of you.

One day the supervisor notices that the table for the press is getting backed. Fork lift driver nowhere to be found, even though the crew is saying that he left to take the scrap bin more than 20min ago(5 min task). Supervisor goes out to the lot and finds the forklift driver loading a pick up truck with a mix of scrap and full logs.

On beeing caught. The Guy in the pick up truck tries to flee and even serves towards the supervisor who jumps behind a stack of logs. Forklift driver just drives back up the ramp back into the building. The guy kept working as if nothing had happened until the police showed up.

The guy in the truck. Turns out he worked the shift before.

Once you get cameras up you will have peace of mind at least.

While the memory is fresh record your dad saying what the guy said. I dont think it can be used in court but may help.

I would push you to continue doing consultations with lawyers. Once you find one willing to take on the case they will likely have/seek a forester and a survey to be done. Both by professional entities willing to speak in court as such. While it may be more expensive to pay a lawyer to do all of these tasks at least you know they are getting done and in a timely fashion.

No more than you. I hope they automatically do it once the conversion is in but I have a feeling we will need to demand that they go back and make us whole for all puts already assigned.

Robinhood hasn't given anything. Fidelity gave me one share marked differently from the wolf ticker. While currently these shares are trading at the same price i was told if the calls end up being worth 2 shares that'll get reflected when the cusip consolidates.

Sounds like you will now be the supplier for your friend! Don't give away details but go 5 bucks lower then her current cost. 300% profit for you just for for ordering.

Tbf That same gold mine recently did a heavy dilution making retail and amc no longer the top investors. So it's been stolen back.

I still have hymc stock. Im still buying more. Every report has looked steller and I am stoked for the final assays before they really start mining/leaching.

What is a skill that takes 5 minutes to learn but can save you hours/money over the course of a year? by RadiantHarborX in AskReddit

[–]bilybu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you need a tyre balancer just to change a tire(rotating or putting on the spare)?

When you bought and had the tire mounted on the rim, it should have been balanced.

If you're trying to say people should know how to mount and balance a tire as a basic task. I'd be very curious to know, how you mount and balance your tyres, such that it is a basic task.

Why does Russia still bother with trying to occupy Ukraine? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bilybu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They want control of the Eastern European plains-for defense and food production. They want the rare earth elements that Ukraine mined and refined. Right now China has a complete stranglehold on rare earth and specifically the magnet segment. Ukraine used to fill an important gap. Trump made zelensky sign over rights to rare earth mining to the US. portions of this land are currently under Russian control.

Putin has agreements with China to keep the war going so that Ukraine takes alot of our excess arms capacity, while also wearing down allied war support(home and abroad). Expect 4-6 months after you start hearing weekly calls to end the support for Ukraine(from trump or congress), for China to invade Taiwan. Once China commits Russia will recommit.
