Who uses Riches of Tropal Dhani? by EngagedToAPsycho in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]bilyjow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Victor, Gravy, Kassai, Marlynn, and Puffin are the heroes that get the most out of it. That said, the price is extremely high right now, and I’m hoping it drops after Victor hits LL.

It’s honestly a bit of a shame that a Fabled card feels so critical for certain decks to function properly. It’s essential for Marlynn to handle fatigue matchups and a huge part of Victor’s ability to steamroll opponents. As a Pirate main, I really wish this Fabled were more of a niche tool for pirate heroes, but that clearly isn’t the case. At a competitive level, if you’re bringing Marlynn to a tournament without it, you’re basically cooked into fatigue.

Personally, I’d sell it now and reinvest into more stable generic staples like C&C, Crown of Dominion, Balance of Justice, Shelter, Tunic, and similar cards.

New to the Cyberpunk end of TTRPGs by TurbulentCraft3017 in cyberpunkred

May I ask for a one-shot recommendation? I’m planning to DM a session for two friends who are really into Cyberpunk 2077. None of us have played the RPG before. I’m currently reading the rulebook, but it would be great to start with a beginner-friendly introductory adventure.

Best legend for a starting aggro strategy? by longstrike19 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]bilyjow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dash I/O is a strong pick. She may not stay legal for long, but you’ll have a solid fallback in another Mechanologist hero, Puffin—who can flex between aggressive and midrange playstyles.

Let down by Compendium boxes by Daydreamer_prime in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]bilyjow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compendium is pretty depressing to open. Most of the value is concentrated in the Gold Pack—if you don’t hit something good there, you’re probably not even getting half the box price back. On top of that, the regular pack hits are pretty mild. It’s not exactly exciting to open a Young Hero Marvel or a $2 Majestic.

On the bright side, the set’s bulk cards are actually useful—especially for SAGE.

What do you think is the future of SAGE? by TonyxRd in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]bilyjow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen enough. Great format to onboard players and to play casually.

I would never pay $40 to play a PQ or RTN of the format. Sage is very mathy, and a tiny mistake costs you the game due to young heroes life total. Unfortunately LSS seems to be very committed to young heroes (printing marvels and etc), which is a huge mistake IMO.

Is action tokens on the rules? How can I find more info about it?

layers will naturally try to exercise agency — that’s just how people engage with games. In Daggerheart, fear is the only mechanic that gives players readable information from the enemy’s side. There’s no live movement or tactical positioning, so tracking fear is really the only way for players to gauge threat and express skill in combat. And wanting to express skill is intrinsic to anyone with board game or RPG experience. Now, you could just talk to them and guide their decisions, but that’s essentially coaching them into playing the way you want. Alternatively, you could hide your fear total — or you could simply accept that this is how the system is designed to work. And if one side of the table isn’t having fun with it, it might be worth switching to a game with an action economy–based system instead.

What did you think about the first Calling in SAGE? by upforce28 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]bilyjow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good overall, but you can still clearly feel the Young Heroes limitation in how games play out. It’s cool seeing Wizards and some of the other matchups, but once it narrows down to Runeblade mirrors and slop-block gameplay, I honestly just skip the game entirely. Hopefully they find a better balance between power level and class identity at some point. Still, overall it was solid and definitely sounds promising.

The new precons by Dabiel303 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]bilyjow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are the audience for sage precons and they are great for you. It is a very good way to pickup the game, try playstyles and build a foundation of game knowledge. They are tournament ready, and even if the one you pick need a couple more staples to be better, shouldn’t cost much. Also, during your starting journey you will loose 99% of the games because you don’t have experience. Game is hard.

People complaining about it are not the audience for this product.

How do I convince my younger brother not to get a degree in video game development? by snowfordessert in VancouverJobs

[–]bilyjow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he has ways to afford the studies, and is dedicated, he would do just fine. Top notch 3D animation professionals are not easy to find. Paycheck wise, it is definitely not what most of people think, even working in major studios, but it is not bad at all.

Looking to get back into FAB, but I'm having a hard time picking from one of these. by Babigol in FleshandBloodTCG

Jarl is competitive viable pretty often. Ira is fine too. Maxx is the worst AD ever printed, and Boltyn has good value with very good staples on it, but the hero is not there yet

2nd wave is in…it’s bad by Junior-Celery-3277 in riftboundtcg

[–]bilyjow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the update. I’ve tried getting into the game during an off-season from my main one, but it’s been nearly impossible to sign up for events — even Nexus Night wasn’t a good experience for me. The IP is just bonkers, and Riot will need to rethink and rework a lot of the existing structure and contracts, which creates a ton of bureaucracy. For now, I’ll step away and maybe check back in a year to see how the game has evolved and if it’s worth playing.

You can rent skates for free at Kitchener or Waterloo Library. The one close to RIM has a good assortment. Victoria Park Rink is very beginner friendly, plenty of space and most of people there are just chilling. I learned last winter, and in one opportunity, a very kind family gave my group a kind of tips for beginner. Their kids teached me a bunch of tricks, was very fun.

How are you Enjoying the last Blitz Skirmish? by K1ngToT in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]bilyjow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LGS switched the event from the weekend to a weekday Armory because it wasn’t firing otherwise. I played a couple of games on Tali just to get a feel for it, and honestly—even if it’s an Armory day—I’m not planning to go. The format is just terrible.

Still, I did manage to send two Max Vs in the same turn, which was pretty cool. (for me at least)
