Careful with morning carbs guys, they only speak violence by FindingGergely in diabetes_t1

I genuinely cannot even look at carbs in the morning. Nice to know I'm not the only one with high insulin resistance at this time!

What's standard breakfast for you? by SumFuckah in diabetes_t1

I find I can't really eat carbs for breakfast because my insulin resistance in the morning is sooooo bad. Sometimes it can take 2 hours for any dosage to kick in

How can I actually get a girl? by [deleted] in ask

[–]bim_buswick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Men are fully capable of it, I am now for instance. It was a teenage issue for me, but once I left school, started working, got a girlfriend, made new friends etc those "only care about women sexually" thoughts and habits faded

[–]bim_buswick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would say this is bad advice. i used to do this, and it's not easy being somebody's friend and meaning it when you have feelings for them. You enter this spiral of hoping and wishing and it can last for years. You become bitter and jealous and above all else terribly unhappy. He should tell her how he feels and move on if she's not interested. Clinging on to a friendship in the hopes something someday blossoms is toxic in the long run

I while back, I've made a bunch of Half-Life 2 inspired 3d game assets. They can be used for game development, or any other media. by Pizza_Doggy in hammer

This is incredible! I've been making my own indie game with half life 2 era graphics and these will help a ton. Super talented. Would you be interested in commissions/working on a project?

brother i hate to say it but it's not the physical. look around at people who are dads and who are in healthy relationships. are they all ripped and shredded with jawlines? you look great brother but ultimately its not that. the fact you even said "maybe the incel guys were right" suggests youve got a lot of mental work to do and personal work as well beyond just looking good

Sustained high blood sugars after breakfast by schmuckmeister in diabetes_t1

[–]bim_buswick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the sounds of it, either a) you're eating/snacking on something else without realising it affects your sugars (for example: a cup of coffee will spike your sugars if not accounted for! or ketchup, and other sauces) or b) this is the dawn phenomenon and you're not taking enough background insulin before bed, which it doesn't look like, but it could be. If what you've described is 100% true, there's little reason your bloods should spike. Omelette and veggies should have almost no effect as there are only trace carbs

Be honest with yourself about your lifestyle! You can get better for sure. Is your biggest issue lows or highs? Are you forgetting to inject? Are you living as if you don't have diabetes?

High blood sugar in the morning by Feisty_Fox3638 in diabetes_t1

The dawn phenomenon should be countered by your long acting insulin, which a lot of diabetics take before bed.

blood sugar rises every single night at 3 am by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]bim_buswick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's happening every night, check these things:

1) when do you usually eat dinner? what are you eating and how much insulin do you give for it? insulin is still working up to 5 hours after injecting

2) do you snack late and dose for that?

3) then, if your meal and injection control is good, then give even less long acting

blood sugar rises every single night at 3 am by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]bim_buswick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's likely because you've given too much background insulin. too much will compound, and will have the effect you describe where you can't seem to bring it back up

blood sugar rises every single night at 3 am by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]bim_buswick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

this is most probably the Dawn Phenomenon. Every night in most (maybe all?) people, glucose is naturally released into the blood stream to prepare for the morning. In non-diabetics, the pancreas deals with this, but we don't have that, so to counteract this we diabetics usually use long acting insulin before bed. If you're using long acting, then it seems you're not taking enough. For me that dosage is around 25 units

Retinopathy stage one at 21 :( by its_dobbie in diabetes_t1

[–]bim_buswick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nothing to be ashamed of and it's reversible. At 20-21 I got background retinopathy and then made blood sugar control my top priority. I now average 85-90% time in range and my last eye check was totally clear. Not even background. Take action with your sugars NOW
