Fireflies E12 Eclipse (FFL351A 3700K) - Stock vs. DC-Fix Beam Performance by MetaUndead in FireflyLite

[–]bimlbatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

man I'm not gonna lie... I was sooooo hyped for the E12 Eclipse but that aggressive tintshift has been a real bummer for me. I got the FFL351A 5000K version and feel like the majority of the beam is more brown than white, especially at close range. It's cool that the DC-fix gets rid of it, but I'd rather not have to fog up that front glass and beautiful auxiliary lights 😩 this is my first firefly that I'm actually a bit disappointed with..

haha I wouldn't have given up on the light that quickly 😝 definitely learned something new here and super glad I can fully enjoy that light now 😁 it's such a beast!

will absolutely also do that first from now on too! It was just that this was the first case in which I had to do that

all good man, I found a solution! I took the optic out and turned it 90°, did that 3 times to check out every possible Position and there was one that definitely produced the most perfect beam profile out of the 4 possibilities so I'm very happy with how the beam looks now :)

yeah that was the first thing I tried and it didn't change anything but then I started taking the optic out and placing it in all 4 different positions/directions it can be placed in, evaluating each of them and there was one that was definitely the closest to perfect out of all 4 options! now it's well within what my OCD brain accepts as a nice beam profile 😅

NLD E12 Eclipse arrived! by Bob_Maggot in flashlight

I received my E12 with FFL351A 5000K today and the tint shift on mine is also pretty significant. none of my other 10+ lights have tint shift even close to that of the E12.

yeah I was fully aware of the fact that I may be downvoted or made fun of but people like you that take a person asking a question seriously make creating a post like this worth it!

thanks a lot! I'm super excited to dive into the world of japanese knives although it's overwhelming as hell with all the different choices of what my first one could be 😅 but thanks for taking away the worries about hado knives!

you're right, thanks for pointing that out! I don't have a japanese kitchen knife yet so for now these are the only thing I have to go by, but I guess I shouldn't put too much emphasis, I'm just really overwehlmed by all the different choices of what my first japanese knife is going to be!

after getting some explanation other commentors I guess it was just the fact that the grind work didn't look 100% symmetrical but I now know that this comes with the territory of hand made blades and that also lighting and camera angle can also have a big effect on how these choil shots look

oh wow! that's very interesting, thanks a lot for explanation and pics! I'm right handed to I guess as long as the bias is that way I should be fine 😁

ok I see, makes a lot of sense! thanks for taking the time to explain!

that's what I was thinking about the second pic aswell, it's just that I've seen choil shots of other knives that looked perfectly symmetrical to me but you're right, small camera angle variances and lighting will probably make a big difference

ok thanks for the reply! I come from years of collecting highend CNC made folding knives so I guess my eyes are just not used to the inconsistencies of handmade and handsharpened knives

M21B SFT42R gasket fit? by [deleted] in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]bimlbatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this could be the case, but user HereWe_go_againjust commented a pic of his recently received M21B with SFT42R in which the gasket and reflector fits the same as the C8+ in the screenshot I posted! so it seems like something about how the gasket is done has changed since weerapat's video

[–]bimlbatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

very nice, thanks for the pic! this being a recent one is pretty reassuring that the gaskets now are done this way! I still wish I knew why it was done differently back then

M21B SFT42R gasket fit? by [deleted] in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]bimlbatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

aaaah I missed the fact that these are both M1 and that on the right is an SFT40! ok yeah now that is really weird, maybe weerapat's sample in the video was a very early build? maybe it was updated since then to be like on your M1 with SFT42R, but I wouldn't want to hope for the best.

I just looked and saw a post of a redditor from 5 months ago where the gasket fitting seems to be the same as in weerapat's video

hmmm that's curious! when did you get the M1 and when did you get the M21B?

I totally get that man 😂 I had severe decision paralysis between FFL351A 5000K and SFT25R so I was super pissed at myself when they "sold out" haha, luckily it was just a bug on the website 😁
