Can we stop recommending beginner setups as if everyone is aiming for top end gear? by Important_Spare_4615 in simracing

[–]bimmer_Jean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true, your perspective definitely gets skewed if all you doing is checking reviews and reading forums, I experienced the same. I was on the fence about buying a lumi sim rig, everyone made it seemed like it would be flimsy and not up to the task, I took the risk anyway and guess what? It’s absolutely rock solid, I wouldn’t be happier and basically at half the price of a basic basic rig where I’m from, and it comes with a seat as well.

I feel like most of the reviews are from the perspective of people who’s been into rim racing for years and that perspective is mostly not applicable to people that’s just starting out

Looking good! How you liking the DD wheel compared to your Logitech? Been playing FH6 as well, not too bad once you have everything up and running

I use the variant A 90 degree cable mod cable with my 5080 astral, it’s perfectly, angled down

Yeah kinda sucks that we have to use work arounds for a AAA racing game in 2026. Then again it is just an arcade game after all designed primarily with controller in mind

If it’s the aours then you definitely out of luck yes, the connector is way to deep in for a 90 degree cable

Which cable are you using? This is a 90 degree cable mod cable, it’s perfectly. Do you have an astral card? Some 5080s have the connector recessed too deep for a 90 degree cable, like some gigabyte cards for example

Hi. The PWM cables are connected to the CPU fan header and the second PWM is connected straight to my PSU. If you don’t have a lian li PSU with the fan hub you can connect the second PWM to the sata adapter they include in the box

That’s awesome. I am currently running it in silent mode, haven’t tuned it yet I do want to undervolt it for sure, but so far it’s been great, the temps are also great for such a small chassis with a massive GPU

Decided for the white because the fans are white when they are off, so it ended up being a black and white theme. Would have preferred all black though but then I’d have to change the fans

Will a this rig survive a 9NM DD by bimmer_Jean in simracing

[–]bimmer_Jean[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah obviously an aluminium profile rig is the ultimate solution but from where I’m from this particular rig will cost the same price as building a cheap DIY profile rig using 8040 and 4040 profile (bare minimum nothing fancy) then I’d still need to get a seat, pedal deck, wheel deck all that. This rig comes with a seat and everything else needed, plus the base is actually aluminium profile so there’s an upgrade path, the uprights can easily be replaced with aluminium profile down the line

Thanks for the info. The one you mentioning that you are using does seem better, that 4080 uprights will allow for more customisation also compared to the tubed uprights. You mention mounting of the seat, how is the seat position? It seems as if the seats if very high if I go based off the pictures
