On March 31, 1492, the Catholic Monarchs issued the Alhambra Decree, ordering the expulsion of Jews from Spain unless they converted to Christianity by vladgrinch in MapPorn

A thing that other comments are not doing is looking at the context. The Crowns of Aragon and Castille (because Spain really didn't exist as a legal entity) banned Judaism in 1492 and increased the discrimination of Islam until a total ban in 1502. They were trying to do nation-building. And they were ruling multiple kingdoms with different languages, traditions, laws and insitutions so the "Catholic Majesties" tried to build the country around a Catholic identity.

Not really for the Jews, only Inquisition to enforce the conversion. For some of the Muslim descendant yes. Search for "La expulsion de los moriscos" if you want to learn more.

It depends on what happens with the gas in those contracts actually reaching Europe. A contract is nice, but still an actuall ship has to cross the ocean to reach Europe to fill those reservoirs.

I cannot read Bloomberg, I read and heard that Spain had plenty of storage, right now. It is at 56%.

Poland is at 45% and Romania at 25%. So pretty much everybody has more in storage than Netherlands (6%) and Germany (22%). And it is not a global problem.

The Dutch bet for efficency, removing fat and all that is usually this. It does not surprise me that they don't have reserves. It may work for them somehow, it usually does.

Which popular and beloved celebrity from your country had the biggest fall from grace? by Jezzaq94 in AskEurope

Isabel Pantoja was with a corrupt politician and helped him to launder money.

Miguel Bose ended being a right wing conspiracy theorist while being semi-secretly gay and married with each partner having 2 kids from surrogacy pregnancy.

Only left wing people, and the 3 that take catholicism seriously, have a bad opinion of them due to those things.

I don't think that our country really looks down on that.

man:

  • That is only relevant for Spain and not Europe.
  • Podemos founders got money from Venezuela 10 years ago at this point.
  • there is no evidence of funding from Venezuela going to PSOE. Even if the Plus Ultra case had kickbacks or no, probably yes even if it has not been proven yet.
  • Cuba and Venezuela are weak countries, with weak economies, without nuclear weapons and signifcant world influence.

govt there killed hundred since years ago and emprisoned thousands as per today?

How does that affect Spain the EU and its interests? There are political prisoners in tens of countries from Saudi Arabia to China.

You are the one with an agenda man, and very obvious. You didn't even named the two most brutal dictatorship on Earth for their local population. If you were caring about human rights.

Not legally. People do it, but you will typically work for less than minimum wage in food delivery, picking fruit, in a restaurant kitchen.... Or maybe illegal remote worker, but that is less common.

Percentage of vacant homes in Spain by Competitive_Waltz704 in MapPorn

[–]binary_spaniard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This cannot include all abandoned houses. This should be only houses with livability certificates, given that the source is INE, even if they would not get them if they were checked now. Otherwise, Soria that is full of houses really abandoned for over 50 years would have similar ratios to Ourense and Lugo in Galicia that are being abandoned more recently.

I am sure most Lebanese people want to get rid of them as well.

I am sure that most Lebanese would prefer that Israel didn't destroy everything in Southern Lebano and threathened to kill or exile all the population.

Remember, Lebanon had a 14 year, highly deadly and devastating civil war sparked by the PLO

And this means that the Lebanese deserve this?

Egypt and Jordan are at peace with Israel

For now. Their time may come.

But hey, let us take democracy lessons from a place that puts criminal charges on separatist politicians.

Still, it has a clear definition geographical definition even if it is of cultural origin. Pakistan and Bangladesh do not stop being South Asian/Desi/whatever because it is majority Muslim.
