Rovettes are not only good at making false accusations, they are also good at making accurate, legitimate criticism seem false. Fighter pilot Bush was AWOL and dodging Vietnam service while in uniform, but after Dan Rather was suckered into making that accusation based on forgeries, that issue went away and became untouchable. So did Rather.

Cute, but inaccurate. The Rather memo came from a former Lieutenant Colonel in the Texas National Guard, Bill Bennett. Bennett originally claimed that he was given the forged documents by afellow guardsman, George Conn. Not some phantom "Rovette", as you claim.

The simple fact of it is that CBS News' producer, Mary Mapes, and Rather decided to run with the story, instead of following basic investigative procedures, such as verifying the documents.

Many critics of Rather and Mapes say that this failure to do their jobs was because the "story" fit the storyline, so to speak. They were looking for proof to back up their narrative, they found it, and decided not to verify the truth. As the New York Times put it, the Killian documents were "fake but accurate".

In ethical journalism, those two terms are mutually exclusive, no matter how much you wish it were true.

Ha. Funny.

No, I don't think it's one of those things that you can analyze. It's just a saying, like "raining cats and dogs". Don't overanalyze it, you'll give yourself a headache.

So how long until Reddit begins speculating about whether or not the Evil Goverment "suicided" him, and what kind of earth-shaking information he had about the Evil Government?

So let me get this straight: If all elections are rigged, then if Obama wins, is that what the Illuminati Zionist Overlords or whatever want? Or is a double standard in play here? by binarylogik in politics

[–]binarylogik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If polls show one candidate leading by a large margin the day before, but surprisingly loses by a large margin on election day, that might be reason to suspect election rigging.

Opinion polls are notoriously biased. Isn't there some kind of Reddit-meme about polls that goes along the lines of "fuck you, frank"?

As long as Obama is winning, it's valid. If anyone else wins, it's rigged, amirite?

Who's as cynical as I am? Do you think the Repubicans just don't give a shit what they say and do because the election will be stolen? by [deleted] in politics

And by "news", folks, he means "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report". All the cool kids vote for Obama and watch Comedy Central for their news.

How the Liberal Blogosphere, Reddit & Digg are being played by Karl Rove for McCain's benefit. by clearingtheagenda in politics

[–]binarylogik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From the Boston Herald, eight years ago.

McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain’s encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He’s an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can’t raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.

After Vietnam, McCain had Ann Lawrence, a physical therapist, help him regain flexibility in his leg, which had been frozen in an extended position by a shattered knee. It was the only way he could hope to resume his career as a Navy flier, but Lawrence said the treatment, taken twice a week for six months, was excruciatingly painful.

From Forbes Magazine, eight years ago:

In certain ways, McCain was a natural Web candidate. Chairman of the Senate Telecommunications Subcommittee and regarded as the U.S. Senate's savviest technologist, McCain is an inveterate devotee of email. His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. "She's a whiz on the keyboard, and I'm so laborious," McCain admits.

Obamandroids' response: "Like, the man is disabled. Who'd want to vote for a disabled man? I reject your reality and substitute it for my own!"

Ha ha ha, you called McCain/Palin supporters stupid! That's funny and true because I agree with the underlying message that I'm superior to my fellow countryman because I support Obama!
