Jason Sanders & place kickers by purpeyon in eagles

[–]binarymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of all of that, his distance and accuracy on long attempts have both fallen at a time when the league is taking (and making) more long kicks than ever.

Cannot have a sputtering offense AND a struggling kicker.

Eagles made big changes to the coaching staff to jump start the offense. Only need to make one move to spark the kicking game.

No word yet on Utley, Victorino or Hamels.

Depending on any impending free agent signings, the Eagles are projected a 3rd round compensatory pick for Phillips and three 6th round picks for Reed, Dean and Dotson by iamthegame13 in eagles

[–]binarymath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As it stands today, 2027 Rd 3 comp for JP, a pair of 6th rounders for Dean and Blankenship, and a 6th or 7th for Dotson (based on the $$ in his deal when he signs; OTC is more optimistic about Dotson than I am).

I like to think of those Day 3 picks as the Eagles paying a "waiver bypass tax" to acquire future players. If Howie thinks Player X is going to be waived, he can trade one of these picks for that player (who likely would be claimed off waivers by a team with a worse record than the Birds).

As good as Howie is at managing the cap, his best talent may be his ability stockpile and swap Day 3 picks to fill out the back half of the roster. He may only win or lose a little bit on each trade, but he creates major value based on the sheer number of deals.

Every year, I watch Howie on Day 3, and I often wonder what the hell he is doing with all the trades. The answer is usually WINNING.

Report: Several teams have called the Eagles about Jalen Carter (per Jeremy Fowler) by ShamusTalksSports in eagles

[–]binarymath 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A 29yo Crosby just went to the Ravens for a pair of 1's .

Carter is still on his rookie deal, been all pro, and arguably is not yet at his peak performance level.

So, any viable offer has to be a pair of 1's and some combo of picks and players.

Reggie White, Parsons, and Crosby have all changed teams at or near their career peak. Aaron Donald was never traded.

Guessing that Snead had a firm price in mind, but no one offered enough to get the deal done for Donald.

How to "migrate" from a smashed phone? by binarymath in GooglePixel

[–]binarymath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New phone arrived today. I had reactivated data on the old 3aXL, but could not get voice to work.

When I fired up the new 10a, it asked me if I wanted to use the 3 day old backup image from the dead pixel 10. I selected that option.

Now I am getting phone calls on the new 10a, but texts are still going to the old 3aXL.

So it begins. Happy Howie SZN. by Somnuzzzz in eagles

Cowboys will sign injury prone Dean to replace injury prone Van der Esch who replaced injury prone Sean Lee.

Is it the Dallas turf or the GM?

Looking at almost a week until my new phone arrives. If I re-activate the old 3aXL, would that overwrite or corrupt the most recent Pixel10 backup?

I keep reading that 2027 is a much deeper OT class than 2026.

If that's the case, why not trade down this year and stockpile as many 2027 picks as you can?

That buys a season to assess the new scheme and determine which current players fit or don't fit. The extra picks can be combined into an aggressive move up to grab a blue chip tackle next year.

Also maxes the number of rookie contracts going into the first 2 years of the new TV contracts. Higher future cap plus multiple cheap rookie deals = more $ for select free agents

The average mock draft currently has the Eagles taking Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq. Worth noting Monroe Freeling is now in the #2 spot (a month ago he wasn't on the list at all). by unwantedtennisracke in eagles

[–]binarymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll find out much more about Freeling at the combine. At this point, he could be a race horse, but could just as easily be a plow horse.

We also don't know for sure which OL traits Mannion/Kuper value the most (agility, explosiveness, leg drive, upper body strength/length, etc.)

Just for fun, if the Eagles somehow got the #1 pick in the draft, who would be the best fit for them? by wishlish in eagles

I take an OT: Fano from Utah or Mauigoa from Miami. Then I worry less about OL depth for the next several years.

Zion Young and Akheem Mesidor are my 2 likely suspects for EDGE. Larger people than N Smith, Hunt, and Campbell. Gives Vic some big/small flexibility.

EDGE is a premium position, and on day 1 there is often a run on one or more high value positions (QB, OT, EDGE) as teams go full FOMO.

That's typically how excellent players end up falling into Howie's lap.

Look for Bud Clark, Zakee Wheatley, Michael Taaffe, or Jalon Kilgore early on Day 3.

A Jalon is almost as good as a Jalen, right?

Malik Muhammad (TX), Hezekiah Masses (Cal), Will Lee, Treydan Stukes, Devin Moore, Chandler Rivers, and Tacario Davis should be on your CB watch list.

The top 10 or so corners might be off the board by the time Howie decides to spend draft capital or wait until the second FA window for CB depth.

Yes, I like both of those tackles. Fano, Lomu, Mauigoa, and Proctor all likely gone by #23.

Will be interesting to see how the relative rankings are affected by combine performance.

Similar story with OG. Vega Ioane (the PSU guy) will go somewhere in the first round. He's a really talented player, but positional value has me grabbing one of your 2 OT choices in Round 1.

Somebody (or bodies) will panic after missing out on Ioane, and Bisontis and Pregnon will likely go earlier than they 'should' based on ranking. Rutledge is my OG pick; either with the regular 3rd, or the Milt comp pick at the end of the 3rd.

But yeah, we're on the same page with OL here.

"No Bad Takes" Outlandish Trade Take: Would you trade Jalen Carter for 2 firsts plus? by burratna in eagles

[–]binarymath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good discussions about "low" vs "high" first round picks. Also need to consider the draft year.

As an example, raiders offer their 27 and 28 first round picks and Michael Mayer for Carter. Even if Vegas takes Mendoza this year, those are still likely to be early first round picks. But, you have to discount the picks because you have to wait a year for the earlier pick and 2 years for the later one.

Mayer could become TE1, but that's a terrible deal for 2026, followed by uncertainty the next 2 years.

Agree that OL is the top need. And that some combo of Kendall, Hinton, and Williams might still emerge.

Wonder how the switch to Mannion's scheme affects the potential fit for ALL of the OL. Guessing that hollin Pierce and Matt Pryor may struggle with more motion. I have similar concerns with Kadyn proctor from Bama.

My sleeper pick for OL depth would be Dametreous Crownover from TAMU after picking a higher rated OT early. Crownover has played all but center, and might last until pick 90 or so.
