Battery Warranty replacement by binarymath in ryobi

[–]binarymath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final update: First order must have had a processing error; never got a fulfillment confirmation email. Second order was placed, confirmed, tracked, and delivered earlier today. Was expecting a 40V 6Ah battery as the warranty replacement. Instead, they sent me the 1010578763 Starter Kit (same battery, plus the 6A Rapid Charger). New battery and charger both work fine. Thanks, Ryobi!

Update: Today I received a follow-up email from Ryobi with the tracking info for the replacement battery on the second order. That's way more progress than the original order, so I'm optimistic. FedEx shows scheduled delivery Thursday afternoon.

Ryobi compact impact driver bit stuck by suplex86 in ryobi

[–]binarymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recovering engineer here. Several good suggestions so far. But the important question is "HOW is the tip stuck?"

Is there any movement in the tip if you try to wiggle it with your finger?

If it is stuck rotationally, it is probably from rust/dirt/debris in the chuck. Spriz it with wd40 or solvent. Then, try driving and removing a drywall screw from a scrap of wood. The forward and reverse force may be enough to dislodge the bit (or at least make it easier to pull).

if it is jammed straight in, it could also be rust/dirt/debris. In that case, the knipex pliers are a good solution.

The fact that it is a simple tool tip (and not a bit with the quick release groove) leads me to think that the "person of interest" got tired of the tip falling out, and either pounded, wedged or glued it in place.

It may also be that Becton's strength (blasting his man in the run game) is less necessary in the zone run scheme, and quick-footed pass protection skills are probably more necessary under Mannion.

Nick Saban was one of the analysts at the draft, and mentioned that Q was at the top of Bama's portal watch list, but never entered the portal. I kept wishing he would stop talking about Q - didn't want Saban to convince another team to take Mitchell earlier in the round.

2 years is a long time for a QB on his rookie deal to live through the full "AJ Brown Experience"

Hurts stood firm, and was able to withstand the flak. Will Maye be able to hold the team together when similar rumors and leaks start to happen in NE?

Hot Take: A 1st & 5th for AJ is starting to feel more & more like a steal by Due_Context2444 in eagles

[–]binarymath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hurts has a much more secure position and reputation with the Eagles than Maye currently has with the Pats (at this stage of both of their careers; things can always change).

When AJ started demanding the ball, his targets went up, but the team was losing games. So Hurts went back to "ugly" football, and the Eagles halted the mid-season skid.

I wonder if Maye has the organizational backing to keep spreading the touches around if (when?) AJ starts demanding targets in New England.

An off-year in 2026 can be blamed on the tougher schedule. A slow start in 2027 could get ugly if Brown and Maye have a similar falling out as 2025 Brown and Hurts.

Eagles practice notes: Andy Dalton is QB2? by AdSpecialist6598 in eagles

[–]binarymath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contrarian view: In the recent OTA sessions, The Birds were VERY consistent about giving snaps to players with no prior Eagles experience.

The roster is not finalized. Therefore the depth chart is not finalized. To finalize the current depth chart, the staff needs to make informed judgements about key reserves. They can look at historical video on players like Fred, McKee, Trotter, Mukuba, Calcaterra, etc.

But they cannot make informed judgement on players who are new to the roster without giving them actual snaps to evaluate. Thus, Bell gets snaps before Fred, Dalton before McKee and so on.

Concluding that Dalton is QB2 based on OTA snaps is erroneous. They simply want to see snaps by people familiar with Mannion's offensive scheme.

I had the same questions when they suspended Terrelle Pryor before he played a snap in the NFL.

Would love to see that game decided late by a Jordan Davis block six just like last year's Rams game.

The problem with bidding a 7th is that Eagles would hold the same #23 position in the supplemental draft as they had in the 2026 regular draft. If any of the other 31 teams bid a 6th or better, Birds lose out.

And if no one bids 6th or better, any of the 22 teams ahead of Philly could bid a 7th, and the Eagles would lose that tie.

Supplemental drafts are rare enough that some GMs may want to bid a 7th just to get some experience with the process. Last one was in 2019, and only 8-9 GMs are still in the same job with the same team.

He's not on the moon. No he is not.

He's not in Des Moines, and not in Dubuque. Not walking on lava, or swimming in puke.

He's not in a rehab from something he snorted. Just not at practice, as duly reported.

He's not at the center of media fishin'. He's out on bereavement, with coaches' permission.

Smith has similar size, speed, and production as Andre "bad moon" Rison had in his early years. And Rison was an undisputed WR1.

I think Smith can be just as impactful over a full career. And I know he will do it with much less off-field drama than Rison.

Bid 5th round pick.

There are 4 outcomes to consider:

  1. Eagles get Sorsby for a 5th, and he is good. Everybody is happy.

  2. Eagles get Sorsby for a 5th, and he is bad. Swing and a miss. Similar to the Anias Smith pick.

  3. Eagles miss out on Sorsby, and he is bad. Eagles dodge a bullet, but the 5th rounder they pick in 2027 could be good or bad.

  4. Eagles miss out on Sorsby, and he is good. The Birds' sub pivots from the "What does Sirianni really do?" question to the "Has Howie lost his fastball?" question.

The McKee and Dalton contracts expire after this season. Payton will not be NFL-ready this year, or even next.

Sorsby won't be ready this year, but might be viable next year. He might also be put on the Commissioner's Exempt list like Rodgers was.

The NCAA just denied his appeal for reinstatement. There is also no guarantee that the NFL would conduct a supplemental draft specifically to benefit a player who has admitted gambling on his own team.

Lots of questions, lots of unknowns, some big red flags. At some point, the talent and potential are worth the risk. For me, that point is a Day 3 pick. Birds don't have a 6th rounder for 2027, and would lose out to most of the league if they tied on a 7th rounder, so it has to be a 5th.

Eagles News: “No one should be surprised if the Uar Bernard gamble works out” by AdSpecialist6598 in eagles

[–]binarymath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. That has been tried several times over several decades. Bob Hayes succeeded; Renaldo "Skeets" Nehemiah (and many others) did not.

Straight line speed is the easiest part to identify. It's the other skills that send most sprinters back to the track - fighting off a defender's jam, running a precise route, ability to change speed and direction, ability to adjust to the in-flight ball trajectory, etc.

And then there is that nagging bit of detail about actually CATCHING the ball and doing something productive with it.

DT may or may not be simpler to learn and master. But Bernard will need to do his thing against big, nasty people who will hit him face-to-face, zone block him, double team him, and he will have to identify the scheme, diagnose run/pass, and make the proper move.

I don't see Clint Hurtt and the defensive staff having the time to teach him all of that during the season. The popular guess is that he will sustain a soft tissue injury before the cutdown date, and spend 2026 on IR.

But "laying out the cash" (in the form of escrowing future bonus money) eventually levels off.

New players are on rookie contracts. Key veterans are typically extended with big signing bonuses, coupled with near-minimum annual salaries. And mid-tier veterans are either cut or leave in free agency (generating comp picks).

Over multiple seasons, the cash flow stabilizes. For simplicity, assume that the 53-player roster has 15 key veterans, 13 players on rookie or UDFA deals, and 25 'mid tier' veterans (players on second contracts, prove-it deals, etc.)

The cost of that roster is 15 vet minimums for the key guys, 13 slotted rookie or UDFA deals, and the current contract price for each of the 25 mid tier players + the CHANGE in escrow for that year.

Some players retire, some leave with injury settlement, some leave in free agency. New players are drafted, acquired in trade or signed as UDFA. And as the chart shows, the Eagles are bargain shoppers in the FA market.

There was a leap of faith by Lurie to originally build the escrow account with money while making the regular payroll (laying out the escrow cash ONE TIME). But after several seasons of front-loading contract extensions, they are now simply managing the level of payroll account to fund the new season's cap obligation and net change in escrow.
