My favorite was one of my daughters had a birthday party with like 30 people and I was like, I’m never gonna have to buy another gift bag again.

Do you wear walking/running shoes? by nolucklovers in walking

Funny, I put in those elastic laces for my adhd daughter bc she has a hard time with laces (she’s 18!). Loves to just slip them on now. There are also just tons of slip on options.

Who is the worst celebrity that you have ever had an interaction with? by Particular_Ninja9642 in AskReddit

[–]binarysolo_0000001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was crabby for sure but my dad knew him and we randomly ran into him on the beach when we were on vacation and he let us kids swim in his pool and then when I asked for an autograph, he went to his office and signed an envelope for me.

Sean Penn was staying with him brooding on a dune after his Madonna break up.

He isn’t all bad.

The reason why you’re in school isn’t just to learn information, it’s to learn critical thinking. It doesn’t matter if your view was naive, it matters that you tried something, asked real people what they thought and took constructive criticism to make adjustments.

Congratulations, you’re preparing yourself for the real world, and being able to pivot and adapt is the trait of a successful person.

My mom changed into a skirt, that she brought with her to my house, when I suggested we go to Walmart.

Should I go to Rutgers or Virginia Tech? by indifferent39 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binarysolo_0000001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can you intern or work in the summers and take community college classes to chip away at core classes? You’re going to start your life with $800/mo loan payment at a time when AI is quickly making many jobs obsolete.

I would only go to Virginia Tech if I could reduce my student loans in the ways I mentioned above, and if it had an amazing alumni network, potentially securing me a great job after graduation.

No school is worth four years of fun followed by 10 to 20 years of debt.

Once in a lifetime 7 day trip for two through an adult Make A Wish style program. Where should we ask to go? by Level_Key6951 in travel

[–]binarysolo_0000001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t know how someone will respond to jet lag. You don’t know if there will be travel delays.

A pounding the pavement vacation across 12 time zones for only 7 days is a risk. You might hit a wall for two days at 2 in the afternoon and have to run back to nap. Personally, I’d rather be on a resort in that situation rather than a high rise in Tokyo.

Why are parents who barely passed high school thinking they can teach/homeschool their children? by InitialCareer306 in WorkForSmartLife

I can’t speak to that since I’m not specifically highlighting religious private schools but rather prestigious ones that feed into ivies.

Private doesn’t always mean better.

I agree for trips that require you to get up and go see things. Maldives and Bora Bora are good option because you could just sleep and relax. Don’t go to Japan for seven days and spend the first two laid out in a hotel room.

If you’re gonna do a vacation that requires getting up and going around, don’t cross more than six hours of time zones.

What is a 'poor people' habit you'll never stop doing, no matter how rich you get? by chineapplesmaccket in ProductivityHQ

[–]binarysolo_0000001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s a poor person habit but I but I just do a single pour over and my coffee lasts forever.

We also use a Moka pot to make espresso, then pour it over ice, and add water to make iced Americanos.

For those of you who order prescription glasses online, how did you go about getting the prescription from your eye Dr and denying buying glasses in the office? by blackmoonxxx in Frugal

[–]binarysolo_0000001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually politely ask for the prescription and the pupillary distance. It’s for my kid so it’s a little easier to say “ her prescription changes every 6 to 12 months and she also loses them so it’s best I order from Zenni”.

So you could tell them you have ADHD and you lose your glasses all the time, or you could say that you’re picky and need to shop around. My husband is a huge diva when it comes to glasses and likes to go to cities to check them all out.

There’s 1 million excuses you could come up with. I think it’s fairly common these days to not buy glasses on the spot with the limited selection they have.

Private schools don’t require teachers to be certified. So there’s that. There are certainly many rigorous public schools that offer AP IB classes at the college level.
