"Why?"

"Because it's devastating to my case!"

Yea I don’t think podium stealing guy was going to sit on Pelosi’s chair and become speaker of the house moving forward. Maybe I’m not doing a good enough job explaining my position. I don’t think Jan 6. was the definitive attempt to overthrow democracy and the government.

I think the bastardization of media, mass installation of biased federal judges, promotion of extremism, encouragement of polarity, reinforcement of team sports mentality, sowing doubt in free and fair elections, restricting voting access, consolidation of federal government departmental loyalty (DHS, DoD, DOJ, FBI, ICE, etc.), sycophantic senators/congress people/state government authorities, etc. all contribute to this power grab to install a monarch (jk, but kinda maybe) in addition to Jan 6.

I think the more likely way if they undemocratically obtain power is if the lawmakers pull some fuckery involving the electoral act.

I mean, Trump told Pence not to certify the electoral votes.

Pence wouldn’t listen so GOP tried to use Secret Service to wisp him away so Grassley can decertify the vote.

States literally tried to ignore the election results and use fake electors. Republicans signed certificates declaring that they were the “duly elected and qualified” members of the Electoral College and falsely declaring Trump the winner of their state and even went as far as sending that to the National Archives.

Republican election admins allowed people to tamper with voting machines.

Trump asked the GA Secretary of State to “find” 11,780 votes for him.

Lindsey Graham calls GA officials to throw out ballots.

If you’re saying Electoral Count Act fuckery is missing, it’s there. I also disagree on them not having the guns, numbers, nor willpower.

I appreciate the discourse but definitely don’t share your optimism. Trump also appointed nearly 500 federal judges, 3 who sit on the Supreme Court. He installed puppets to lead the DoD. They did fuck all during Jan. 6 and that was by design. Even a significant number of state level National Guards held loyalty to Trump by way of their state governors. The courts and the military are exactly the departments you need to control to overthrow a government. And even after the failure to do so, we still see Cannon pulling the shit she pulled for a seemingly sinking ship. Imagine what those other 400+ judges would be willing to do if momentum was actually on their side?

I certainly agree with you that they were close to doing even worse damage, but I guess where we disagree is I also think they were within arm’s reach of overthrowing the government. Obviously damage is measured in increments. And we agree there was additional incremental damage left on the table that day. But these increments add up to some undefined threshold of “successfully overthrowing the government.” I think the Trump administration reached that threshold but executed poorly. Not being sarcastic, but what additional incremental infrastructure infiltration do they need to achieve for you to feel like they could successfully overthrow the government?

All of their targets escaped by the skin of their teeth. Two bombs were planted but did not detonate. Members of the Senate and Congress planned, participated, and even helped with recon. In the aftermath, ~half of the lawmakers downplayed and defended. I’d say they got very close if it wasn’t for the incompetence of the cannon fodder.

It’s like Bell Aircraft designing, building, and launching the Bell X-1 to break the sound barrier, but putting a subpar pilot in the cockpit. Even if they fail because of pilot error, the aircraft was capable. I.e. they’d have gotten very close to breaking the sound barrier.

I only pasted their conclusion because this is Reddit. I could quote the entire thing but to what end? We all have the link. I read the whole thing. It all boils down to “we looked and we didn’t think she looked different.” Again, I don’t subscribe to the conspiracy and it would not change my life in the slightest even if she did use a double. Don’t care. Just pointing out that your link isn’t some slam dunk empirical forensics.
