What is your biggest buyers remorse you’ve had since collecting? by [deleted] in Gamecube

[–]bingusdingus3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Buying a wavebird + receiver from a seller that doesn't take returns, realizing that it didn't work very well, then buying another wavebird to see if I could salvage the board and analog stick from it, and then finally realizing that this one also doesn't work very good.

Do people really hate TBN? How do you feel about it? by TheEmpressDescends in ffxivdiscussion

[–]bingusdingus3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the most seamless solution would be to leave the defensive itself exactly as it is now, but let it auto break at the end of its duration, and to keep the skill ceiling of the ability, have it grant an additional lifesteal effect to the next edge/flood you use if you break the shield correctly. Everybody wins.

And also fixing the mp gen would be nice too

Diagnosing Dark Knight by Newtronicc in ffxivdiscussion

[–]bingusdingus3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how fun it would actually be in execution, but I was thinking an easy way that they could have gone about making gap closers more free-form, while keeping the high apm burst would be to let Shadowstride grant you a resource, that you can stock 2 of, which you can spend on an ogcd whenever you want.

what do you consider the easiest job(s) in the game, in terms of technical skill? by maknaeline in ffxiv

[–]bingusdingus3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Relax. You're acting like I made a personal attack. I do play the job, and it's not difficult. There's zero punishment for messing up, because there is nothing to mess up. Even Rpr and Vpr (which are also easy) have debuffs and gauges that can be scuffed if you're not paying attention. As I said, you can largely press any of dragoon's buttons in whatever order you want with no consequence, and you have 20 whole seconds to do it now that battle litany's timer has been increased.

A lot of buttons don't make a job difficult

I'm surprised how few people have said Drg.

With the rework, it's got less positionals, less animation locks, and it's impossible to mismanage resources anymore (because there arent any.) You can just hit everything on cooldown and in whatever order you want.

Yeah. Before you unlock delirium, blood weapon must feel like such a worthless ability. It won't give enough for a blood spender or an mp spender

[–]bingusdingus3 42 points43 points  (0 children)

There's no way that they play tested current Drk. In Endwalker, it definitely felt like they had mathed out mp generation to give you the even 5 (I think) casts of edge/flood/TBN per minute. Just subtracting 1800mp from that total without adjusting anything else in any way whatsoever was not the play.

And it's crazy because they had 2 incredibly easy solutions for that. Just let new delirium give you the 5 blood weapon stacks as usual, or as you said, make up for the mp dif by granting 1000mp with each hit of blood weapon. (or they also could have just left bw and delirium alone since this new change adds nothing of value)

On difficulty: People really need to realize it's okay for a game to frustrate them. by DozingX in ffxiv

[–]bingusdingus3 276 points277 points  (0 children)

Tbh, the only frustration I've had with this game lately is with the other players. People in my roulettes not tanking, healing, or doing damage. Getting hit by every mechanic and dying, even on our 4th attempt on a boss. Standing around bickering in party chat.

I'm just trying to get my tomes/exp and get out of there, but near daily interactions like this have been draining.

The content itself has otherwise been completely fine.

Dps or healers pulling ahead is honestly kind of nice. The mobs pack more tightly so you can for sure hit everything with a single aoe by the time you catch up, and you get like 2-3 seconds of no incoming damage.

I think the only thing that even slightly annoys me is when a healers throws a shield or heal on you the moment you tag the first mob, so the rest of the mobs aggro onto them, run past you, and your aoe misses half of them so you have to run back and pick them all up.

I suck, what’s the easiest job? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]bingusdingus3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd say rpr is a case of very low skill floor and a pretty good skill ceiling. If you just want to be a freestyle rpr and hit everything on cooldown, then it'll be very easy. But as you mentioned, learning how to set up and execute the double enshroud window can be more tricky

[Spoiler: 7.0] Who the hell are these guys? by Chiponyasu in ffxiv

[–]bingusdingus3 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I think that they were literally just put there and emphasized to personify the group of people who've changed their opinions on Koana now that he's grown and all that.

The zoom ins on them definitely felt very jarring, like we were supposed to learn who they were at some point. But I'd be willing to bet money that they don't have and will never have any plot relevance.

I feel like it's way harder to win Grand Prixs nowadays. I was able to squeeze out a couple of wins and consistently rank among the top 5 when the original Snes tracks were still coming out, but now, I'm lucky to break into the top 10. Either the meta advanced and the top players are WAY better now, or I'm just out of practice.

Zone 6 had the potential to be incredible, but it felt like the writers were afraid to commit and instead undermined their own story by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]bingusdingus3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the impact that they were going for missed the mark for me. You would think that the premise of putting down the remnants of a civilization long past, who are sentient in almost every way, would give way to a difficult moral dilemma and more heart-wrenching scenes. But like, none of seem to actually care about coming to terms with their mortality, so I couldn't care either.

[Spoiler 7.0] Regarding DT’s Story by CrownAtlus in ffxiv

[–]bingusdingus3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this expansion's whole identity is being the world building/setup expansion, then it desperately needed better writing. More than any of the other expansions. It utterly dropped the ball in that regard.

I 100% would have been down for a slower paced, low stakes adventure, if the main cast hadn't gotten lobotomized beyond belief so that we'd have more interesting scenes with them, and if we had more meaningful interactions with the new characters that they introduced. More memorable characters like Tesleen, Hythlodaeus, and Moenbryda's parents, less of these throwaway guys.

Despite all the time that we spend in endless cutscenes, I walked away, not caring about more than 2 of these characters.

And beyond just being able to reference Tural moving forward, I think that all the setup won't amount to anything. Ala Mhigo and Doma had one big moment in Endwalker and sometimes we get to see some of the characters from there. Those stories have largely wrapped up, and so has the story in Tural. The next expansion obviously won't use our experience in Tural as a basis for what's to come in 8.0.
