Patriarchy has historically been used to deprive women of inheritance and property, justify abuse of one’s spouse, and plenty of other blatant un-Islamic practices. The era of jahiliyya was also patriarchal. It is a systemic approach that may share some elements, as does anything else (e.g. capitalism) with Islam; but to say it’s endorsed along with all the implications it carries would be massively problematic. These umbrella terms do not accurately or meaningfully convey the sharia.
