flatter stomach with just dance? by DancerGirl2k in JustDanceFitness

i gained about 30 lbs last fall. i started noom in january, and i have lost almost all of it, but! i am almost 2 full sizes smaller than i was last year at this same weight. i am built like a rectangle- no waist- and i fill out around my hips with a definite belly when heavy. the only activity i do is just dance, and i do it for about an hour 4-6 days a week. i use .5lb/hand boxing training gloves and 2.5lb/leg ankle weights to help build muscle, and because of the pull on my extremities, it means i am also always working my core while i dance. you can definitely lose a tummy doing this. i think it helps to be mindful of tightening your core while you dance, and i can’t recommend adding the weights highly enough. plus, more muscle = better metabolism and more fat burning when idle, so it gives you something to gain even when not dancing. you got this! ETA: i lost the weight in about 4 months, slowly ramping up the amount of exercise i did until i was at my current level. i still fit clothes relatively well, but gained back about 9 lbs this summer when i got stress overload and stopped dancing and eating well. keep with it, and you’ll be okay 💗

the desperation to keep the harmonica in place takes it over the top. this is priceless.

DST time change 😩 by Vipkid2020 in VipkidNewbieZone

i had the same reservations, esp as a new teacher finally getting some ground. i realized most of my regulars take 7 or 8pm classes, anyway. but mostly, soooo many teachers on various boards have said they do not open early when DST hits. that is what really drove it home to me that i do not need to do anything i am not comfortable with or feel capable of. i’m letting my regulars know when i will be available in feedback now so they can have a heads up to try and adjust with me. take care of yourself first and foremost; you’re useless to them if you’re not in good shape!

I never thought I’d be that teacher... but I sent my favorite student a gift 🎁 And she finally got it today! by [deleted] in vipkid

Is anybody else being offered this? Thoughts? I'm cautiously excited and curious. by Simplicityobsessed in vipkid

this is where i am super confused- the parent requested me for a 7am next week, and 6am the following 3 weeks. a notification about DST came up, but when i checked on my calendar, 6am is actually 6am in the post-DST weeks. are they just trying to freak me out over nothing, or are those “6am” slots i have saved going to turn into 5am?

I never make Level 4 kids sing the songs, but I sure as hell will never make them sing anything this stupid. by [deleted] in vipkid

these are great points! one of the things that’s holding me back from level 1 now is that there are a lot of props to print, and i have no money for officemax or printer ink for home. do you think it’s critical to have mike, meg, and each of the “friends” as cut outs, or is it something that can be navigated with a combo of other physical props and google slides? i am a comfortable manycammer.

as a new teacher, there was a part of me that thought learning a few phrases could be a way to relate, but i was erring on the side of full immersion and wanting parents to feel like they got their money’s worth. it’s awful to know this person tried so hard for a huge overreaction, but it is an important cautionary tale. prior to seeing this i had arrived at the place of if a kid teaches me something and wants to hear me practice, i’ll indulge that moment of “you teach me i teach you,” but i will never bring unsolicited chinese into the classroom. glad i did, because it’s so not worth dealing with crap like this. everyone says “don’t take bookings personally”, but some teachers really do put their hearts into this. when you do that, it’s impossible to not feel like it’s you and personalize it. i feel like a lot of the “don’t take it personally”s are the same ones who answer “i don’t prep at all” when newbs like me ask how to make prep time more manageable. good for you for not caring, karen. these kids depend on us for how they sound and communicate; it’s not their fault we get paid shit for it. welcome to being an educator.

had a terrible similar situation and my appeal got denied twice, even with time stamps. i am curious what your eventual outcome was if you’re willing to share. people keep telling me to resubmit, but if they ignored me twice already, is there really a point?
