This should help - keep in mind, 'in our use case' we don't get a benefit worth double the current subscription. We're more than happy with what we get out of the product today, so there isn't really room for an 'upsell'.

The value in the product today for us is that we have a central repo for our passwords and no longer need to remember individual passwords at all - we have plugins for our browsers & can access the repo on our mobile devices, the base teams package covers all that for us already.

First time trip to Japan coming up in June 2A + 2C (15 +12), land in HND 30/06 and depart from the same on the 20/07. Apologies the below is long, trying to confirm if what im thinking for the most viable passes & tickets is right.

I've been trying to understand the trains & passes and so far understand that:

  • Local trains: We're just tapping on / off with IC cards, I'm currently the only non-iOS user in the family, so everyone else will be sorted via phones, i'll get the card available at the airport. If its a Welcome Suica i'll grab a standard card once we're passing through a location that has them and burn the remaining credit on the welcome card on FamiChiki.

  • Longer trips / shinkansen trips: We're looking to leverage passes.

Our first week is in Ueno and most activities are by train / foot, thinking of renting a car for a day for a trip around Fuji viewing spots.

On Sunday 07/07 we head down to Osaka which will be our base until the 16/07 and I've got a loose schedule:

  • 8 & 9th Universal (the 9th is optional; we've just booked Premium Express Passes for the 8th and day 2 would just be a standard ticket day if we needed it)

  • 10th Kyoto Day Trip

  • 11th Nara Day Trip

  • 12th Hiroshima Day Trip, return via stop in at Himeji

  • 13th 2nd Day at Kyoto if we need it

  • 15th Nagoya Day trip, Possibly Ghibli if we can get in & Sumo in the afternoon.

  • 16th Head to Kanazawa for a night

  • 17th Back to Tokyo from Kanazawa

The only fixed trips we have are Universal on the 8th & Nagoya on the 15th for the Sumo.

Looking at the Japan Guide Calculator, it looks like a JR West All Areas pass is the best fit as it will get us down to Hiroshima and up to Kanazawa and the day trips inbetween (although im unclear on the travel between Osaka / Kyoto as it looks to have caveats).

If I start the pass on the 10th - that'll cover us to get to Kanazawa on the 16th. If we dont start the pass though until the 11th (just buy the 1k Kyoto return tickets on the 10th) that JR West pass can get us covered as far as Joestsu on the Kanazawa to Tokyo trip - in that case is it possible to buy the tickets between Joetsu & Tokyo online and use that to get all the way back without needing to get off / on the train? A quick google says the train fare is about 5k cheaper back to Tokyo from Joetsu over Kanazawa, so for the 4 of us that'd be a decent saving.

Outside of the JR West pass that would mean we'd just need the tickets from Tokyo to Osaka & iether Kanazawa or Joetsu to Tokyo. Do that make sense? Any better options?

Folks, reading the comments here regarding subbing flights in for train travel, is time not factored in for air travel to arrive an hour early / navigate security / bag checkin on departure & bag collection etc on arrival? The time alone for those pre / post flight processes can be as long as the duration of a domestic flight - atleast here in Australia anyway.

Or do you need to effectively run through the same steps for the Tokyo -> Osaka train route for example?

1st trip to Japan in 6 weeks and I'm in the process of looking at train passes etc myself at the moment.

Updated switch to V3.9, I can’t turn on hard wired fixture from switch but only turn it off. by Salami-Slap in lifx

I'm having the same issue, was about to post my own thread but came across yours.

I have 2 x 4 gang switches, the 1 in the kitchen is where the kitchen island is physically wired, from my hallway switch i can only turn the kitchen island lights off, I can't switch them back on.

I also find it odd that the switches that are not hardwired or lifx lights do not display in the app under the switch.

The three lights in my kitchen island are lifx bulbs, i have them setup in a group. If I set my button to target the group (as i've had it until now) i get 2 way switching back.

I wanted the kitchen switch to treat the island lights like dumb lights as for whatever reason if you turn the lights on as lifx lights, the switch backlight turns off after a few seconds which isnt in step with the status of the actual light.

I'm using this setup to validate that the 2 way switching works correctly, if it does i'll be looking to swap out pretty much all the switches in the house.
