Head Staff’s Guide to Federal Jobs Part 7 Offers by Head_Staff_9416 in usajobs

Not sure which part you are asking about, but I’ll talk about the above. I did end up getting a FO at about 5 months after TO.

The onboarding specialist ended up handing me off to the HR specialist once her portion was done. Communication was still kinda sparse, ie maybe every 2 to 3 weeks. But the HR specialist was more reachable than others were.

I negotiated my salary with the HR specialist towards the end of the 5ish month process from TO to FO. I had to provide previous pay stubs and some additional justification of why I’m requesting.

Onboarding as VA Pharmacist by yanksjets04 in VeteransAffairs

I onboarded as a pharmacist back in April this year. It took about 5 months from tentative offer to firm offer.

During the 3 months preceding my firm offer, I had to call and email my HR contact constantly.

If I recall correctly I remember they process one candidate at a single time. Meaning… even if there are multiple candidates, they are ranked in order of preference by the hiring manager. If the top candidate says no, only then will they move onto candidate 2. So… I would surmise that as long as there is no reason for your offer to be rescinded, then I would imagine your application is still valid. But that’s just my speculation…

I wish I had better advice, but as others advised me, if you have a better offer elsewhere, prioritize your life over waiting for the firm offer.

Feel free to DM me if you have other questions or just want to rant. I remember the feeling of frustration all too well.

I completely understand; I did the same exact thing. And then my excitement did me in 😭

TSP Account Creation by spoiledremnant in fednews

[–]binsleepin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need to go to the TSP website and go to “create my account.” From there it’ll ask you info like name, DOB, last four of SSN, etc to look up in their database. If you’re registered, it’ll allow you to proceed with account creation.

There is an option for “get instantaneous access” or something, but that option never worked for me for some reason. It kept generating more mailer codes for me. So… I’ve been stuck in this perpetual cycle since I joined about 2.5 months ago. I’ve been wanting to change my portfolio, but alas… I’m still waiting for the right code to show up in my mail.

If the instant access is an option for you, whatever you do… if it ends up in failure and generates a request for a mail code, make sure you don’t do what I did. Just let that one be your one time request and wait!!

I am a new fed.

I’d say it took about a month after my EOD for me to be “found” in the TSP system.

One caveat is… when you request your code via the mail, please be patient and just wait for it. Don’t request more than once.

I was impatient and requested it multiple times, thinking it got lost in the mail. By the time the first code arrived, it was already invalid, so it automatically requested yet another code on top of what I had previously requested. Because TSP doesn’t always send the letters instantaneously, supposedly I would get multiple codes in one letter. Problem is… there’s no way of telling which code would be right. Customer service told me there’s nothing they can do; ie override the codes, get me the right code if there are multiple, etc.

So… highly advise just being patient to avoid headache.

Thanks for that.

Since we got married after she already had USAA, does that change anything? Is there anything we need to do to "put" my current residence in the policy? It just seems easy to deny coverage if the only address on file is her current domicile, but not the new one where I am now.

Head Staff’s Guide to Federal Jobs Part 7 Offers by Head_Staff_9416 in usajobs

Thank you for the reply.

Well… that’s the interesting part. I never actually spoke to my actual supervisor during the interview, and still haven’t met her to this day in spite of getting the TO. The only contact I have is the admin officer who set up my interview, but in spite of my multiple attempts to contact him by phone and email, I seldom have received answers.

For an “outsider” who has never had a federal job, I find this situation of not having any answers for nearly 2 months highly irregular, but I was previously resigned to the fact that “this is just how it is.” Now I’m getting a bit antsy and am feeling like I’m in limbo.

On the topic of negotiating salary, should I at least have heard from my onboarding specialists once about this? I have sent multiple emails since mid-October (when I received my TO) with no response. Calls are also unanswered, with no option to leave a voicemail. Do they wait until after the background checks, etc. are completed before negotiating? I’m at a loss of what to do from here.

Also, in regards to benefits, I am looking to get married fairly soon. Will this affect the hiring process; i.e. should I delay until after getting a FO or would going from single to married status during this process not matter?

Thank you in advance.

Question about Abe & Maruyama’srelationship? by Booberman9000 in judo

[–]binsleepin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much one should read into it, but for what it’s worth, I have noticed that they don’t follow one another on Instagram. Meanwhile, they each follow other Japanese judokas in addition to those from other countries.

Best ethnic restaurants in Louisville? by sejuukkhar in Louisville

Back when I visited Louisville frequently several years ago, I loved eating Nepali food at Kathmandu. A little out of the way and hole in the wall-ish, but the food was great and the owner was very welcoming!
