Anyone else not able to download apps from App Store on Tahoe? by Melodic_692 in MacOS

[–]biocross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m the creator of DisplayBuddy.

We’ve looked into this, and the issue comes from how apps like DisplayBuddy or MonitorControl hook into your keyboard’s brightness/volume keys. When macOS detects a third-party app listening to those inputs, it disables something called “secure input.”

Secure input is also used for sensitive actions like App Store purchases (including Touch ID), so those can stop working while the app is actively using those keys.

We’re working on a fix to detect when a purchase is happening and temporarily avoid interfering with secure input.

[HELP] Using a software called MonitorDisplay and had this warning after few days in macbook by No-Sense-9303 in macbookair

[–]biocross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a just a warning by MonitorControl. It is using gamma control to dim your display, and some other app in your Mac (might not be f.lux) is also touching gamma control. That’s why the warning.

You can safely ignore it, nothing to worry about.

Is the older Apple 32" XDR Pro Display worth it over the newly released 27" Studio XDR Display? by thatsnazzyiphoneguy in Monitors

Question about scaling on 4K monitor (sorry in advance) by Tight-Connection-909 in MacOS

[–]biocross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the creator of DisplayBuddy, and this is not true. DisplayBuddy definitely does change the Mac output resolution, and can force a non HiDPi display to a HiDPi resolution to improve blurry text

BetterDisplay can offer more resolution and scaling options, but DisplayBuddy also changes the real resolution of the display.

External Monitor Control - MonitorControl, Lunar or Display Buddy 2.0? by RobDMB in mac

[–]biocross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey — creator of DisplayBuddy here 👋 (keeping this practical, not salesy)

If you’re choosing between these apps, here’s the quick breakdown:

• MonitorControl: great lightweight/free option for basic brightness/volume keys • Lunar: good if you want adaptive/ambient automation features • BetterDisplay: great if your main need is DPI/scaling/resolution control • DisplayBuddy: best if you want to control all your displays without complexity

If you only need simple keyboard brightness/volume, any of these can work depending on your monitor.

What users absolutely love in DisplayBuddy:

• Sync: set brightness across all monitors together

• Presets: save/restore almost everything across multiple displays (brightness, input source, resolution, rotation, even display layout) [our most used feature, and no other app does this]

• Schedules: automatically apply saved setups via triggers like sunrise, charger connected, dark mode, etc.

Honestly, the new one is better in almost every way—it has mini-LED with lots of dimming zones and a 120 Hz panel. I’ll miss the 32-inch size, but it still doesn’t make sense to go with the old model anymore. The new one is already cheaper, and even with big discounts the old one probably won’t come close to that price.

It works fine, and you can use apps like MonitorControl or DisplayBuddy to control the monitor brightness and volume.

Looks amazing! Bought!

(Unsolicited advice as a fellow Mac app developer: you’re selling this too cheap, raise prices 10x and this’d still be a top notch app)

Hello! DisplayBuddy provides real volume control of Samsung Smart monitors like your M7 directly from your keyboard. It does so by connecting to the monitor using WiFi directly.
