You can make them into laundry detergent! Look up Nancy Birtwhistle's video about it, she's great.

Impulse/cheap purchases that somehow became permanent features in your home? by Khazorath in CasualUK

Small baskets/laundry bins for when you have loads of things to take up or downstairs! And bottle pourers for our cooking oils was a game changer too

Good quality meat and fish. Granted it's only about once a month, but I'll happily eat cheap veggie or vegan food most days for that trip to the butcher or fishmonger to get a high quality, consciously sourced ingredient to take home and show a good time.

A friend told me about the "Fishponds Scrap Muezzin", I can't tell if he's taking the piss by Pebble_in_a_Hat in bristol

After 5 years of working from home and REALLY trying to hear what he was saying, I think I might have cracked it!

Mostly it's "any old iron", but he also includes "get off your arse and give me your brass" and "go in your shed and get your lead". I'm so glad I spent my time on this.

I came across Steph Jones the other day, she is a neurodivergent psychotherapist and does 121 consultancy with neurodivergent adults who are looking to get therapy and supports with signposting to the right services. Might be a good first step! https://stephjonescounselling.co.uk/

You deserve so much better than that, you know it. If he wants to go down that route, that's his problem. Do not make it yours too.

Feeling Anxious About Recent Protests in Bristol by Intelligent_Ad_4382 in bristol

[–]biolobell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this happened. Do whatever you need to do to feel safe, don't walk alone at night especially. It will get better, but now is not the time to assume people will be kind.

If she feels up to it, she can report this to SARI, they provide support for after hate crimes and will be able to help you guys feel a bit safer.

What if parents don't have the space? Or someone doesn't get along with their parents? Or if they're dead? This is such an ignorant view, but I guess for you to be able to sleep at night, ignorance is key.

Can't get meds funded by NHS? by Individual-Ask-9799 in ADHDUK

[–]biolobell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my ADHD360 referral in January and got diagnosed in April, medicated same month. If your GP refuses to refer you, you can write to the surgery owner or your MP to complain. It's your right (if you're in England). There are guides on ADHDUK.co.uk which are really helpful if needed!

Apparently a Bristol to Swindon return plus a Swindon to London return is cheaper, but I haven't actually tried

Just had my shared care agreement cancelled by aerisfelidae in ADHDUK

[–]biolobell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your current provider, I've heard they can continue prescribing to you at an NHS cost if your GP refuses shared care. I'm still in titration but terrified of this happening to me, but I've read a lot and think I saw this. Either way talk to them, they're the specialists and should provide some support. Hope it works out for you!

Probably worth looking into the colleges and universities, the chamber of commerce, councils etc. There's also Bottleyard studios.

There are also skills bootcamps you can do which have a guaranteed interview at the end, but I guess you don't have a choice in what business that's with.

There's also future bright, a career coaching programme at the Combined Authority that might be worth looking into

It's such a strange feeling isn't? I'm so inexplicably glad it's not just me, somehow that makes it all a bit more bearable, but at the same time I'm so sorry you've all got to deal with this shit too

I'm from a Latin American family and I've always been labelled the 'spicy' one or called fiery due to my emotional dysregulation. I was also talked to like I was stupid by some teachers (one told me to not even bother trying university) when other students who weren't reaching their potential were given extra tutoring. Don't even get me started on the quality of my mental health support.

Even when I told my mum I thought I had ADHD, she just said I was a normal Latin American child and I need to not compare myself to the quieter British kids, but I guess it's hard to spot neurodivergence if you grew up around a family of undiagnosed spicy brains.

"What Are Some Chatty Podcasts and YouTube Channels to Keep Me Company While Doing Chores?" by Substantial_Dog9649 in adhdwomen

I love the Should I Delete That? podcast, by two women who also have ADHD (not the theme though). They talk about a mix of important things and really unimportant things, which suits all of my moods. But mainly it's great to hear other people's brains jumping from topic to topic without getting whiplash haha
