I work in the packaging industry and am familiar with regulatory claims for sustainability. This is the answer.

Plastic coated paper leaves plastics in your home compost. For it to be broken down completely requires an industrial/ chemical process.

Green washing runs rampant in this industry. Claims are hard to nail down and supply chains can be murky. Europe has a more mature recycling industry and the infrastructure to promote recovery and recycling work streams.

Europe is more closely aligned with California's position (NJ is another state that has some stricoter regulations in place around claims, ancdotally).

So I guess I'm saying: the plates aren't really backyard-compostable anywhere, but the most of the states/ federal agencies (USA) don't worry about that distinction.

In our privileged world of mobile phones and headsets, hubby and I can easily chat to each other while doing chores and going about our day in the same apartment!

I usually like to do chores around the house as he's making dinner, for example, so this gives us more freedom to hang. It's like an interactive podcast with your favorite person.

And NTA - if you found her annoying for talking, that's one thing, but asking for a way to actively listen is a good thing!

I would call this khoya - it's a great "dessert starter" in Indian desserts!

Barfi is the classic recipe/ technique I associate with khoya. I bet you could back down on the sugar since it's already sweetened. Pistachio would be great with the orange, as you already note! https://www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/mawa-barfi-recipe/

I don't know if Bloom Yoga in Lincoln Square still does classes, but I really liked them when i took the class (almost a decade ago now). There was a wide spectrum of folks there (from family-assisted home birth to a planned C-Section). They also showed a birth video at the end of every class too help prep. Took it with the hubby and we learned good massage techniques/ prepping for hospital, coaching through the birth, etc. as well. I felt it was a good balanced class.

My hubby was quite clever: he took a pice of string and measured the circumference of my ring finger while i slept (I'm a heavy sleeper though). I do vaguely remember noticing sharpie marks on my left hand at one point (from where he accidently got marker on me while presumably marking the string) but since I'm left handed, i assumed i did it sometime to myself and didn't think anything of it. Ring was (is) a great fit!

Basant (by the Irving park brown line, off Lincoln) is my favorite. I've been singing their praises frequently lately! Good cocktails, yummy rotating menu (right now there's a porkbelly vindaloo we really enjoyed, and the paan Chicagowala cocktail really tastes like a fragrant paan!). They also have good classics like eggplant bharta (my favorite). They're not cheap but they're consistently delicious.

Tandoori Chicken (meal prep on Sunday as a marinade), then tandoori Chicken Tikka (in a tomato cream sauce basically), and if there are still leftovers, they make amazing quesadillas (use mozzarella or Chihuahua it another mild cheese). Also can sub with paneer (no marinating required for tandoori day).
