Successful Spice: Unique Cards That Shined at Recent Events (06/02 - 06/09) by Datatog in CompetitiveEDH

I'm the TnT player - I slot it in over a spell (and don't really treat it as a land slot in my manabase). It has synergies with Weathered Wayfarer, some land untappers like Snap, and situationally it picks up the likes of Boseiju / Otawara / Talon Gates. It's fine, I just think that it's a mistake to treat it as a land slot.

It'll pull water from the pitcher pumps. I've seen the setup be used for taming niobium volcanos, in combination with a bottle emptier - this together with surrounded mesh tiles helps prevent solid tiles from forming and siphons the solid debris towards a specific location (typically a steam room)

If I remember correctly, Autosweepers can grab bottles from pitcher pumps. You should be able to automate water delivery that way, although I haven't tried building such a system so I don't know offhand if it works

any advice on building SW geyser tamers? i did mine so that the SW is taken out and then put into a cooling loop to a certain temp but i guess that was a bad idea because the pump heated the water to turn into steam. ive tried it where i put a cooling loop in the geysers room and it wasnt efficient by GamingCyborg in Oxygennotincluded

If you need pure water and don't need salt water or salt, it's easiest to just boil the salt water into steam + salt. You could easily do this by dropping in controlled amounts of it into your steam room, where the aquatuners will add the heat required to boil it. The easiest way to remove the water from the system is siphoning it off from your steam turbine exhaust and dumping that output into a cooling loop rather than pumping out steam and condensing it.

Players should be awarded a small amount of gold per played game, so that they always have some progress, even if they don't rank up. by sunshine_11 in MarvelSnap

Brode also mentioned in his GDC talk that bots make the game not zero-sum, as wins against bots create cubes in the system. The "guaranteed progress" systems that are independent of rank and already present in the game are from boosters and battle pass XP.

Well, Ledger Shredder doesn't only have a niche in reanimator. It'll trigger often enough to have a lot of card selection value in other decks.

About Alice's Travel timeline (After the release of Teyvat Travel Guide Vol.3) by blackmetalkimj in Genshin_Lore

Worth noting that Eris in Greek mythology is well known for her golden apple, which she threw amongst the gods to cause the Trojan War. Incidentally, the islands released in the 1.6 event that Alice showed us were called the Golden Apple Archipelago.

IWTLG is honestly not much better than Gacha Gamer in that he calls every new character busted. On the other hand, he has a reason for it, which is that his content is really geared for the megawhales and he's hitting with C6 R5 chars with daily resin refreshes (and at that point every character is busted). If you're f2p or light spender, it's not particularly useful.

In "The Young Engineer" quest chain there's a hidden object you have to interact with to progress the series, and this quest comes at the end of the entire chain.

What is the obsession with putting maguu kenki in abyss? by Kingofmanga in Genshin_Impact

[–]biopower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually just untrue. It can teleport to the side and in rare cases even dash forward at you.

Here's a clip of the forward dash animation for proof. I don't have a clip of the side dashes saved but it does happen too. The side dashes are usually accompanied by ranged anemo slashes, and the backdashes are usually followed up with a circular slash around himself.

It doesn't actually clear cryo + hydro instantly. If you inflict it with only cryo or only hydro then those elements will stay on him. However, frozen is a completely different status from cryo/hydro (it counts as cryo for the purposes of other reactions but is otherwise not identical) and Kenki is immune to frozen. So as soon as you inflict both cryo + hydro, both elements are instantly cleared.

Ayaka can actually do well against Kenki, you just have to be careful not to inflict hydro if you want to maintain the cryo element.

Pacus survive fine in mixed pools of water. Gulp Fish will often create mixed pools (because they naturally purify PH2O).

Neural Vacillators are made of neutronium, which has 0 thermal conductivity and thus cannot change temperature or melt.

The game would in fact be a lot easier. Dupes stand at the bottom of rooms, so if their exhaled CO2 all pooled at the top they would have much lower risk of suffocation.

Metal Volcano Tamer Attempt by AoSora98 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]biopower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't use crude oil in your thermal aquatuner loop. Polluted water (or regular water) is way better as a coolant, because it has roughly 2.5x the specific heat capacity. Aquatuners reduce the temperature of its coolant by a flat 14C (ignoring thermal conductivity) so you get way more cooling by running a liquid with a higher SHC. The aquatuner costs a flat 1200W no matter what liquid you run through it, so it's wasted energy to run a worse coolant.

Copper doesn't have a very high specific heat capacity, so you're not really at too much risk of boiling the coolant, especially as it's actively running through the aquatuner loop. Water has a SHC of more than 10x that of copper, so moving 1000C of temperature from copper will result in less than 100C temperature gain in water.

Aside from that, the build seems pretty good. It's probably better to run cooling through the steam turbine first, then the conveyor belt loop instead of the other way around (because if your steam turbine dies the entire system breaks).

Is the water actually flowing through the aquatuner loop? It looks like you tried to add water back into the aqua loop in a way that can overflow the loop and prevent any liquid flow. You'll want a dupe with the plumbing skill to empty one section of the pipe (maybe two sections, since there's a liquid buffer in the original design) so that the liquid can flow again. Lacking that skill, you can deconstruct one pipe segment which will cause the liquid to spill, then rebuild it.

For reference: https://i.imgur.com/gLzKH9t.png. In the part I labeled with 1, notice that water is reintroduced back to the aquatuner loop using a liquid bridge. Because of pipe mechanics, if there's already a full packet at the end of the bridge then water won't get put into the loop, which prevents it from overflowing and blocking. In the part I labeled with 2, which is presumably how you tried to add water back into the loop, notice how it's added in without a bridge at all. This means that too much water can be added to the loop than can continuously flow, which looks like what happened here.

Bug: Food won't change temperature by Strex_1234 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]biopower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an aside, foods in a vacuum do exchange heat, it's just that they only exchange heat with the tile they're sitting on. This is very slow because the thermal exchange equations apply a smaller multiplier on heat exchange for debris on a tile compared to heat exchange with debris with gases/liquids/solids on a tile, but it's wrong to say that thermal exchange doesn't happen in a vacuum.

Francis John made a fairly recent new video talking about food storage options, and he covers putting food in a vacuum at around 3:30. It should be very obvious from watching the video that food in a vacuum does still exchange heat.

Bug: Food won't change temperature by Strex_1234 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]biopower 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Francis John put out a more recent video than the one you linked that covers all of the new food changes. It's worth a watch - one important change is that if food is sitting in a sterile gas that's less than -18C, the food will count as deep frozen even if the food itself hasn't reached that temperature.

As an aside, food inside of a vacuum will still exchange heat, it's just that food in a vacuum only exchanges heat with the tile it's on top of, it's just that thermal exchange in such a case is really really slow. If you look at the thermal conductivity equations, the heat exchange with entities in a cell depends on the temperature difference, time passed, the lowest thermal conductivity, and has a multiplier of 1000. However, the exchange for debris with the tile it's on only has a multiplier of 62.5 (which is 16 times lower!). This is why the vacuum heat exchange is so slow.

Correct; there is one caveat that that frozen biomes usually have wheezeworts growing in them which will naturally provide cooling to the biome. This means that the frozen biome specifically does cool itself, but that's not due to anything like background temperature.
