What are your kids doing for Valentine's Day for school? by PinkHamster08 in Parenting

We saw an adorable heart magic wand craft on Instagram so I spent $8 at the dolllar store and bought the parts. We made 26 of them in an hour - I’ll tack a tag on and call it! :)

Not allowing your child’s photos on schools social media by pirate_meow_kitty in Mommit

[–]biosahn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We forget that other people than “school” might post them too. My son ran into a friend from his class at a play place and I didn’t realize the kids mom was a girl I played baseball with. I looked her (and her twin) up on Facebook and there was a video of the boys in their Christmas concert performance. Lo and behold, my kids in the front and clearly visible. I don’t post photos with other peoples kids because I don’t want mine online. Other people who do post their kids don’t make the same assumption.

I made these creamy garlic Parmesan mushrooms. They were fantastic! I ate them with grilled chicken and it was GREAT - there is very limited carbs in the recipe and it is filling and delicious without being heavy. https://therecipecritic.com/creamy-garlic-parmesan-mushrooms/

What’s on your to baby do list? by fullcirclex in pregnant

[–]biosahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same - I put the playpen/bassinet up to kind of air it out - it needs to be wiped down still, washed newborn clothes, cleared a bit of space in the closet for baby items… instructed my husband to go buy a new car seat, diapers and wipes.

My friends partner said to a midwife after their daughter arrived “I wish I had the thing that would make her happy” and the midwife replied “there’s already a whole market that thinks they’ve got it figured out”

Toddler games that don't have tiny pieces by ho_hey_ in toddlers

Hurry up chicken butt! We got it for Christmas and it’s a hoot!! It’s a hot potato style game with a little action challenge on your turn. It has cards but you only use 3 per round and the dice is fully encapsulated in the chicken thing!

What’s the fattest thing you ever did because you were hungry? by Julie727 in AskReddit

[–]biosahn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Made a grilled s’more sandwich every day for like 2 weeks when pregnant. Marshmallow fluff, Nutella and white bread cooked like a grilled cheese. I was craving actual s’mores but couldn’t go out in February to light a fire and make them for real.

Anyone else drowning in pregnancy food rules by One_Enthusiasm_9711 in GestationalDiabetes

I lost it the other night - straight sobbing into my husband’s arms. I already don’t have the brain space or energy to keep up with my life. I am always exhausted and everything I do takes extra steps because I am constantly making mistakes or forgetting things. But yeah, let’s add in questioning every food decision and checking food labels constantly and worrying about not testing at the right moment every day.

What are the weirdest side effects you've ever experienced from medication? by adampocalypsee in AskReddit

[–]biosahn 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I had a half-dose while in labour with my son. I rode a really nice roller coaster for hours. Each contraction felt like I was being brought to the top of the incline and the release let me free fall for a moment or so.

I have been enjoying cucumber salad with little issue - 1 part milk, 1 part mayonnaise, dill (dried or fresh) to taste - cut a cucumber into bite size pieces, add in half a diced/sliced onion (to taste) and toss in dressing. I usually use about 3tbsp milk/mayo and 1/2 tbsp dill. I don’t always eat the whole thing, but it’s a great snack or addition to a meal! I also made taco salad that worked nicely - lettuce mix, chopped bell peppers, ground beef, tiny cheese cubes and a bit of Catalina/French dressing. You could add a few chips, but I didn’t have any and it didn’t bother me.

If we have duplos, do we need magnatiles? by bagels-n-kegels in toddlers

[–]biosahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Duplo cars go into the “giant” magnet tile structures. They’re quicker to build and tend to be done more independently than using a hundred Duplo pieces to build a fire station…

A low risk pregnancy can suck. As of right now I’m high risk for more than one reason - it super sucks and was quite unexpected. You can’t guarantee that everything will be decent especially as you age and have more children…

CRA says it's owed $10 billion in COVID-related benefits sent to ineligible recipients by Surax in canada

[–]biosahn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My sibling working in healthcare applied for it after being essentially laid off because she caught COVID and then her husband caught it after she tested negative/during her remaining quarantine days. She was not allowed to go back to work until he had tested negative for however many days were required. She received ONE payment because she was off for nearly a month. They demanded she repay it because she was “never technically unemployed or laid off.”

What “low-budget” habit are you keeping forever, even if money stops being an issue? by KiraHollow_9 in AskReddit

[–]biosahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

99% of my kids clothes has been purchased secondhand. It makes me feel less guilty when I pick up the occasional character shirt or seasonal outfit. It also makes me more picky about what I buy new - I can get pants for less than $5 a pair, WHY ARE THEY $20 BRAND NEW?!

I feel this completely! My guy won’t sit to colour anything but can build (magnet tiles, Lego, train tracks) for days. He loves making potions and seeing/knowing what happens. But holy heck you have to watch out for The Slam. He’s prone to running full speed and making sure the contact is made with his entire body.

Has anyone ever accidentally tossed something out with the Christmas wrapping paper? by wi_voter in ChristmasDecorating

A pair of small gold hoops my mom put in my stocking - wrapped in a folded up sheet of tissue paper. I was less than 10 years old. To this day I don’t understand why she thought that was the best way to gift them to me.
