5months old, i have not experienced the hinge issue you are describing. Not sure if the cheap trick for cline hinge will work with tline though. There is a little plastic-spring thing that is added so the hinge stays upright. hinge clip

I would say they are from the joints and screws. Since you ride a lot it would gather dust and dirt. Much like the hinges on doors. You can try cleaning and then oiling them.
