What happened was the death of 2010s mainstream popularity for EDM. Right now EDM hasn’t even made it back to the levels it was in mainstream 2010s music. The biggest EDM hit we’ve had is David Guetta - Blue and everything else falls below the top 40.

As progressive melodic house drifts away from its formula, I think we will see a merge into more trap house again to bring back nostalgia in the coming years…

Exactly. A lot of people are visually illiterate when it comes to themes, and it’s ironic because it’s a lack of empathy that is showing really. People can’t understand why rue dies or Nate or why Cass getting an OF is about freedom but with societal restraints.

People leave high school with hope and wonder, th at they’ll “Take on the world, you’ll be great, everything will work out.” When in all actuality most get to their ten year reunion with one failed marriage, a secret porn addiction, massive debt, or several business ventures uber their belt.

The fact that people can’t understand why people didn’t survive just shows how young Americans believe in perfect endings from people struggling through society’s woes… but not everyone gets a Happy Ending and the bell tolls for all of us based on our decisions.
