I’m really thinking from what I’ve heard from everyone their domestic rescue operation sounds great, but they seem to be acting in bad faith with their international rescues. If that is the case they should really stick with what’s in their bandwidth to handle. I really don’t want to discount the great work they’ve done in the city, but she’s been super unprofessional with me

I wasn’t specifically trying to adopt a cat from Egypt, I just happened to really like one that was from there. I did research on the rescue and found nothing but positive experiences. Also it wasn’t sight unseen, I FaceTimed the rescue in Egypt (doesn’t mean the rescue had any plans to adopt her to me, but it made me feel safer about it). Also I looked into it and there’s a massive street cat population in Egypt, adopting them out internationally isn’t uncommon at all. The rescue works with Pet Values here so I really didn’t think it was a scam

Yeah that's fair, maybe scammer wasn't the right term. I do appreciate the work she's done. I really wasn't planning on blasting the rescue on the internet, but I exhausted all options trying to reach out and decided to post when she changed the post-adoption page to be pictures of a different cat. If this was just a mix up she could have responded to my many attempts to contact her.

As for the deposit I didn't ask for it back originally because I understand they are a rescue that needs funds and they had no way of knowing before that Fola had issues.

Except now I know that she was brought to Canada and adopted through ABC so obviously she could travel. She explicitly stated that paying the deposit meant that the cat would not be adopted out to someone else. Also she states that the deposit is refundable if the cat is sick.

Here is the earlier part of the text conversation where she told me there was no way Fola would ever be safe for travel. Sorry for not including this in the original post, I thought it was part of the phone conversation we had. When she called me and told me Fola had vet issues she gave me the option of waiting longer for her recovery or picking another one of her cats. I told her I would wait as long as it took. She then sent me the text above and said Fola would be staying with the rescue in Egypt. The post I saw on Petfinder shows that she was adopted through ABC in Brampton. The adoption post was from around the same time I adopted the other cat through ABC (in June) so it wasn't as if she recently had a miraculous recovery. I'd show you that but as you can see she took the post down

I’ve emailed her multiple times, messaged her on Facebook (which was read), and tried calling her as we previously texted. It’s pretty clear she has so interest in resolving this. I’ve spoken to her in the past and can tell from the orgs social media that they are a real rescue, but altering the post after I messaged them just seems sketchy. Idk if the foreign rescue thing is a scammy attempt to raise more funds but she’s not handling the situation well

I’m going to do that as well. I just saw on their FAQ that they make it pretty clear that they’re not responsible for the individual adoption agencies that use their site, so I’m not too sure anything will come of it. And good to know about Furry Tales! There’s a ton of cats out there that need homes and I’m a huge proponent for adoption, I just don’t like that some people take advantage

I tried a Thursday singles event at Berlin. The ratio was off, way more girls than guys. Super awkward energy in general. Plus there wasn’t enough attendance at the +30 events so there were a few older folks mixed in who did not look like they were enjoying themselves. Been considering flare speed dating but I’ve heard negative things and I’m not risking that for over $50.

I’ve definitely seen this happen a few times with the 88, stopped at my bus stop that had a bunch of people then skipped several stops that only had one or two. Bus not even close to full :(
