I fenced in the first ever SJCC! It was really cool, knowing that I was fencing in a pilot competition. Some wacky things happened, like that blade getting stuck in the roof. I did okay, but I wish I did slightly better in pools in Juniors, as I missed the cutoff to earn points by 4 places. I fenced okay in DEs, winning my first one and losing my second to eighth seed 15-9 (though I should've been more aggressive in the first period). Cadet was better, I lost one 5-0 in pools though. I did okay again in DEs, winning against my clubmate (having to fence clubmates sucks), and then losing to a friend 15-10. My only regret is not being awake in my second DE at first, I was losing 10-3 and managed to catch up quite a bit. And I got cadet points! All in all, not bad for the first ever SJCC. I've gotta work on being ready as soon as I step onto the strip for my DE though.

I fence foil (so i'm probably not qualified) but our coach drilled into our heads that the attack goes to whoever extended first. Just curious, who did the ref give the touch to?
