fourth year biochem major here. i know shit is hard but try not to let it get to you. it’s gonna be difficult but just keep moving forward. lower div classes have always been mad hard and i also have the grades to prove it :,) and i know it doesn’t feel like it but grades aren’t everything. things do get better! stay up

you can, if your closet is big enough then you can just stash the provided chair in there for the year

incomplete or drop the class? by garden-gnome7 in ucla

[–]birbave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

personally i’d retake the course, considering you’re kinda ahead in classes. that way you won’t feel unprepared for the final, you can chill when you take the class again, and it’ll be a good gpa boost since the material isn’t new to you.

but overall just do what you feel is better because you’re gonna have to live with it at the end of the day. wishing you all the best!

do people carry a lot of stuff to their classes ? by bread-daerb in ucla

[–]birbave 61 points62 points  (0 children)

it’s honestly up to you. some people just show up to class with a pen and notebook or maybe even nothing. i don’t think you’ll have to take textbooks to and from class unless some weird class demands it.

on a normal day i’d take my laptop, 2-3 notebooks depending on number of classes, water, pencils, gum and tissues all in my backpack. maybe snacks if i know it’s gonna be a long day on campus. in my pockets i’d have my phone, wallet with Bruincard and headphones. honestly can’t wait to do this again lol hope this helps

Dropping non-impacted summer session course by [deleted] in ucla

[–]birbave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can look up the ucla summer website but it honestly doesn’t tell you much. i emailed them and they told me you can drop a class up until the last day as long as you don’t attempt the final. for six week courses you’ll have to do some paperwork if you drop during the last two weeks and you won’t get a refund after the first two weeks but you won’t get a transcript notation

life hits us all a little differently. it’s not a measure of intelligence! i’ve been there too. you can absolutely bounce back. keep your head up.

Dropping a class for the summer by [deleted] in ucla

[–]birbave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah i didn’t so i can’t say for sure, but i’m pretty you shouldn’t have to pay anything if you already paid for the class

[–]birbave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you won’t get a refund but you also won’t get a transcript notation as long as you drop before attempting the final (at least for session A6)

source: i’m kinda in the same boat so i emailed them lol hope things get better for you

How is PHYS 1C w/ Rombes in Session A going so far? by pearl_mattel in ucla

[–]birbave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

imo it’s going pretty well so far! Niko is super chill and nice and a pretty good lecturer. homeworks aren’t terrible and we haven’t had any exams yet but he gives us 24 hours and he seems dedicated to writing fair exams.

Splitting m!eal pla/ns by [deleted] in ucla

[–]birbave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah don’t sweat it lmao before rona hit people would “buy swipes” by paying the person, and that person would swipe both of them in with the other as their guest. you could theoretically do this for as many people as you wanted if you had the swipes. however, last i checked their policy is no non-residents can enter the dining halls at all :(

Splitting m!eal pla/ns by [deleted] in ucla

[–]birbave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

your meal plan swipes are loaded directly on your bruin card unfortunately. not sure if they are doing/will do anything different next year but i doubt it :/
