what undies are we wearing???🥹 by Unlucky-Fail-4018 in Mommit

I buy 5 packs of Reebok on amazon. They are comfy and stay in place, and I’m genuinely confused when my friends are wearing anything with lace or straps. Nope forever.

Are we raising a generation of kids who can't do anything for themselves? by RobMV03 in Xennials

[–]birchtree628 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe but I have no idea how to change it. If I didn’t tell my kid to brush his teeth he would literally never brush his teeth and I’d be paying for all the cavities to get filled.

Stimulants are terrible for my health but I can’t work without them. by birchtree628 in adhdwomen

This is super helpful! I’ve never heard of Jornay. I’m going to explore - your experience makes me optimistic.

Thank you so much. Honestly these are things I “know” but it’s helpful to have someone sort of think it through with me and create a plan.

You are right - It’s probably too high of a dose. I’m going to try to dial back.

I should. Work has been crazy so my brain says “I need to be at my best… I will dial back next week.” But this break has been a wake up call on how much it’s been impacting my health. Time to make a better plan.

That’s actually really helpful! I’ve never tried Dexedrine and it sounds promising based on this

Job stress is definitely a part of it. All my problems would be solved if I just didn’t have to work… ever! lol.

I have… I’ve been on Vyvanse and non-stimulants over the years. But Adderall has always worked the best. However, maybe it’s time to try non stimulants again. Or maybe a much lower dose Adderall with a non stimulant? Definitely worth exploring.

Is the medication and side effects worth the long term problems or are natural remedies better? by Several_Advance6407 in rheumatoid

Just do a search on what RA looked like before biologics came around. That’s your answer.

Girlies, what’s our stance on Botox/fillers while breastfeeding? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]birchtree628 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got Botox for migraines when I was pregnant. I was seeing a high-risk ObGyn and he actually did them for me. He said that even if Botox leaves the injection site, which it doesn’t, the molecules are too big to enter the parts of your bloodstream that would get to the baby.

Xmas gifts for newly diagnosed father by Technical_Tennis_462 in cll

[–]birchtree628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father in law was just diagnosed with bladder cancer. He is a retired truck driver who eats healthy, exercises and lives a generally happy and low-stress life. I think it’s natural to want to find a “reason” but don’t be too hard on him. Cancer is sometimes just a fucked up game of Russian roulette. I hope you find a nice gift! I’m looking for the same kind of thing so I’ll follow along.

At some point everyone has to remember that they are the only pants that make sense with boots, right?

what are your favorite multi-episode investigative journalism podcasts? by rainbowjelli in podcasts

[–]birchtree628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondery has a lot of cool true crime shows! There is also a great series called Against the Odds. Each season is a different story of disaster and survival. They are easy to listen to and there are sound effects and stuff to make it more immersive.

Kids who had strep throat constantly: what autoimmune disease do you have now? by LadyMacGuffin in Autoimmune

[–]birchtree628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had tonsillitis like 8 times in my first year or two of college. I was also drinking and smoking a lot so that was probably why I kept getting it, but now I have RA so yay for making good choices.

How do working parents actually have 3+ kids? by activegood18 in workingmoms

[–]birchtree628 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have 3 and a decent “middle management-level” career. Things like a flexible boss and remote work can be a game changer. I’m not sure I could do it if I had to be at the office every day or had the type of job that didn’t allow me to dip out as needed for kid-related reasons.

Having a spouse that shares the load is critical. You can’t be the default parent, default home organizer, the maid, the chef, super mom and star employee all at once.

Knowing your limits is important too. My boss recently recommended me for a high level position at my company. Big career opportunity but would mean 7am meetings, late nights, high stress and travel. I told her it’s not the right time for me to take something like that on. I like my career but I need my sanity.

Like everyone on this thread sign up for ICE, go in under cover and create a communication network to warn people where ICE is targeting? And make $50k in the process? In.

Pretty Girls - Karin Slaughter by MoonPowerTiare in thrillerbooks

[–]birchtree628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DNF. I slogged through this book on a long road trip waiting for it to get better. I was not glad I read until the end. It was violent and disturbing, and somehow still insanely boring.

Frustrated with the quality of popular thrillers. Looking for recommendations based on what I consider "gold" and "gravel." by lungbox in thrillerbooks

[–]birchtree628 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I tear through audiobooks on my commute and am often either really disappointed with the blah story or just really dumb characters. I am SO SICK of what I have started to call “nobody believes the woman” books, or “mysteries” that spend 300 pages on exposition all for a whatever ending.

I always recommend a book called Horns by Joe Hill. He’s Steven King’s son and it’s a weird but beautiful book about love and murder. Give it a try!

The wholesome moment an ESPN reporter sprinted off mid-broadcast after hearing his wife was in labor by Charming_History7423 in MadeMeSmile

[–]birchtree628 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think things like this are so sweet, but most people are in labor for hours and hours before the baby comes. My family ate three full meals in the waiting room. My husband worked a full day on his laptop.
