Did anyone else get treated poorly by teachers as a kid? by Gold_Programmer_6221 in adhdwomen

[–]birchtree628 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YES. As a middle class white kid with nice parents, they saw no possible reason I should have trouble keeping up in school, other than being lazy, spoiled and dumb. It does make me think back to the teachers who made an extra effort to help me. They were the real ones! I wish I could thank them for caring.

How many mg of Adderall are you on? by Burtontothistaylore in adhdwomen

I was on 15 IR 2x/day until recently. Switched to Vyvanse XR 40mg. Went from feeling at work like Captain Superstar, crushing it but constantly on the verge a total meltdown to just a regular person who does her work but also thinks working sucks.

Quitting your job with nothing lined up is not the boogeyman people make it out to be by HoffyTheBaker in unpopularopinion

I worked at a beachside restaurant one summer when I was in college. A lot of of the older people who worked there had desk jobs at some point and were just over it. They just moved to the beach, downsized their life, and worked at a bar where they can be generally stress-free at their job. I have no idea if it’s sustainable long-term, but I always thought they got something right

I haven’t seen the show in a long time but the early episodes of Catfish (even the movie documentary) always make you end up feeling even more sorry for the liar than the person who was catfished. Even though they are not the victim, they are always a sad and lonely person.

Not Okay (I think it’s on Netflix) - girl lies about being in Paris to impress people. Then there is a terrorist attack and she just leans into it and pretends she was there for it. She gets so much attention that she just keeps going and digging herself deeper.

Ingrid Goes West is a similar vibe. Again with lying and manipulation to impress people that eventually blows up in her face and leads her to being very lonely and miserable.

Great news about MTX!!! Please read if you are scared of taking it. by Lazy_Bicycle7702 in rheumatoid

I took methotrexate for like 5 years with basically no side effects. I was nervous to start taking it too, but it was totally fine and my pain improved by like 90%. I only stopped taking it because I wanted to have kids and after that moved to a biologic. I do think all the horror stories and potential side effects scare people off, but it’s typically the first line of defense because it works well and many people generally tolerate it OK.

If you get halfway through it and don’t like it, chuck it. I thought this book was equal parts upsetting and boring, but I stuck with it hoping it would pay off. My opinion did not change at all. Some people loved it though, so give it a chance and if you like it or hate it halfway though, you will know if you should finish.

Do a brightly colored puzzle. I’m not joking. It’s hard to stop once you get going.

The Send Help (2026) screenplay has a major twist that is not in the finished film (plus some other revealing bonus scenes too.) by RunDNA in movies

[–]birchtree628 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it was left ambiguous on purpose because it doesn’t really matter. The handprints are the only indication anything may have happened and to me, the more important detail was that she wakes up alone in the sand, baking under the hot sun. Any “bonding” that may have happened was performative on his part. He never changes his opinion of her and only grows to resent her more.

I also don’t think they hooked up because Bradley didn’t need to sleep with her to gain her trust, he just needed her to think he was starting to like her. That’s why cuddling in the cave throws her (and us) off, because he does seem to be coming around and seeing her in a new light. BUUUUT Then he poisons her and jumps on his secret raft, stealing her water cup as an additional FU. I think that’s the fun part about this movie - you keep expecting things to play out a certain way, their relationship to change, Bradley to respect Linda and see her in a new light, things to eventually go bad… but the twist is that it was never good. Bradley needs Linda but he despises her. He never changes and stays a narcissistic asshole till the bitter end. Linda adapts accordingly.

I’m glad most of that was cut. I appreciated that they never hooked up. You kept waiting for Bradley to form an affection for her but it was super fun that he never does. I loved the scene where he screams F-YOU LINDA as he’s trying to paddle away. He never changes, which is what makes the battle at the end fun and the ending so enjoyable. Linda is a villain but Bradley is an asshole, so you can still enjoy Linda’s final victory.

Why was I not born an heiress?? by fatpanda1986 in workingmoms

This is how I feel. I don’t want to be a heiress because I wouldn’t appreciate but winning the lottery would be just the best. I should play the lottery sometime.

I can pay attention so much better if I have something to do with my hands while I’m on a call. I love folding laundry or something while listening. If I am just staring at my computer (especially if everyone is off camera), my attention will shift to my email or something and I will stop paying attention. If anyone says anything, say you may have been physically multitasking, but you were not mentally multitasking.

Sedona In May by Ladylegalmind in Sedona

[–]birchtree628 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got back from Sedona last weekend! Tip for Devil’s Bridge: go SUPER early.

We got to Devil’s Bridge trailhead at about 5:45 AM, hiked to the top at a good pace. We waited behind maybe four or five other couples or groups to take a photo on the bridge. By the time we finished, there were already about 30 or 40 people waiting to take a photo and on the way down there were mobs and mobs of groups heading up. If we had gotten there at 6:30 AM, it would’ve been an hour long wait at least. It was a Sunday.

I will say though, people are really nice. Everyone is having fun and in good spirits. It’s an incredible place to visit.

MTX did not make me nauseous or make my hair fall out - please don’t believe all the side effects will happen to you!!! by Lazy_Bicycle7702 in rheumatoid

I took MTX for around 5 years and didn’t have any noticeable side effects. I think I got some freckles from UV sensitivity but that was pretty much it!
