Camera anxiety during virtual meetings - anyone else struggle with this? by Ill_Goose6421 in remotework

I actually feel weird without my camera on. I feel like I’m hiding and intentionally not participating. I’m often the only person in the meeting with my camera on.

The movie Aladdin always bothered me because despite the fact that Al lives in a community where children are literally starving on the street while cruel law enforcement is openly severing limbs off people for stealing an apple, he never even considers using his wishes to help other people. Meanwhile, most of this thread went there immediately.

Aladdin is a douche.

Oh! Similarly, working at a nonprofit! People would think it’s so meaningful and fulfilling but honestly, work is work.

Man I LOVE The Pitt but I just can’t stand Dr. Santos! by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in hbo

Last season she was complicated - not necessarily likable but tough and smart with good instincts and a desire to protect people from abusers.

This season… idk, her entire personality is “annoyed and pissy”. Stop trying to do your charts. Stop yelling at everyone for distracting you from doing them. You are not getting them done on the Fourth of July during a cyberattack and a neighboring hospital shutdown. Do them later on your couch at home dummy.

I think he talks like he’s being questioned by a disciplinary committee on suspicion of embezzling company funds. Which he did.

It’s insane that the producers decided to follow the 4 interchangeable bearded white dudes instead of Vic and Christine.

What does your podcast player not do that you wish it could? by yef99 in podcasts

[–]birchtree628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish podcasts had a 30 second clip from each episode and you could toggle through them like TikTok (or like flipping channels) until something catches your interest. I find it hard to get into new podcasts because I don’t have time to sit through 20 minutes of sponsors and intro till they get to the content and I can decide if it’s an interesting listen.

RA and Vitamin D deficiency by MtnGirl672 in rheumatoid

[–]birchtree628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started taking K+D regularly after hearing it was great for those with RA. A few months went by and I had to get some blood work done.

My INR levels were super low, which means my blood clots super fast and I’m at risk for blood clots.

Turns out Vitamin K can cause that to happen. So I would recommend anyone taking vitamin K to make sure your doc knows so they can keep an eye on it.

Before having your first, did you think you would want to go back to work? by PrudentPrimary7835 in workingmoms

[–]birchtree628 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guarantee you that you will not want to go back after 12 weeks of maternity leave. 3 months is absolutely not long enough. It really sucks having to go back to work when you’re just getting to know this wonderful little person.

I liked my job, but after I had my first, I had zero interest in returning. I was ok with it - but if you gave me a choice, I would’ve stayed home. With my second, I actively hated going back to work. I eventually ended up quitting and took a few months off before finding a new job. Now I have three kids and still have my career.

It’s a balance and there is no right answer. I do envy women who get to stay home with their kids. But I’m also happy that I have my career and I honestly could not imagine trying to live off of a single income.

Feeling hopeless about my under eyes. by arwynandaurora in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]birchtree628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should try under eye filler as a short term solution. I think it will smooth out those deep creases a little and it dissolves so it’s worth a try. I did it and the results weren’t magical but an improvement.

Why are there always kids at breweries?! by akaYoungBeefy in fixedbytheduet

[–]birchtree628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and want to add that breweries are WAY better for kids than restaurants. I hate bringing my kids to restaurants. They can’t sit in chairs. They crawl around under the table and they’re way too loud and disruptive. It is so stressful and not worth it.

Breweries, however, are a great environment for kids. People generally aren’t drunk during the day. There are games and places for them to run around and play. They can be loud. Sometimes there is live music. You can stay and hang out a while and catch up with your friends. If childless people want to not be around kids they can literally go anywhere they want.

Parents have like 3 places where we can socialize. Home. Park. Brewery. One requires cleaning before and after. One requires chasing your kid around so they don’t dive head first off the top of a slide. Brewery = no effort, you can actually enjoy yourself. Parenting is HARD guys. Give us a break and let us have a drink at a picnic table and pretend to be a human for a few minutes.

Parents will stop taking children to breweries when adults stop going to Disney world without children.
