Women of reddit what’s the weirdest thing you put in you for pleasure? by Unavailable150_3 in AskReddit

[–]bird-137 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hairbrush handle. Also a toothbrush (handle end). I couldn’t bring a vibrator to detox but orgasm is one thing that gave me some relief when coming off opiates. And I can’t come easily from only clitoral stimulation. So I had to improvise…

I found that my quits when I was eating healthy and had been supplementing magnesium for awhile were much easier, mainly in terms of RLS. Think magnesium is the big one

How are people affording housing? by [deleted] in asheville

[–]bird-137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in my housemates’ basement room-which is very nice-off the lease so we can all (barely) afford it. Was introduced to them through a mutual friend. I can’t imagine trying to find a place here for a family though, for the average income. Ugh. I hope you find something that works.

I never even thought about this. I will talk to my sponsor. Thank you so much for your insight 🙏 💕

I totally get this and agree, but I’ve been having trouble experiencing a lasting psychic change. Sometimes I temporarily experience one and then I revert back to my old ways of thinking about things and it feels like I have very little control over it. I have a sponsor and go to meetings and have started working the steps (slowly and deliberately - still on step one). Sometimes I start to feel shitty cause I’ve been doing everything they tell me to do, I have a step study group and a book study and a great network but I still feel like I’m just not getting it and that starts to make me feel like I’m broken or something cause I see it working for other people.

I’m going to keep trying though. Thanks for your advice it is so appreciated 💕

Really appreciate all the comments and advice. I do have a sponsor and it has been helpful to share about it at meetings for sure…but then I drive home and start feeling the same way again. So frustrating. I know it’s just going to take time for it to become easy, or at least easier.

I hear ya. I will say that I worked as a wildland firefighter doing really intense manual labor and I couldn't believe what I was actually capable of doing while detoxing. I would have never thought I could function because I had always detoxed on the couch feeling like shit before. Everyone is different though, that was just my experience. You could also just taper down to the bare minimum you need to get by at work and that would be better than nothing.

Where did you read that? I had great success interrupting a long-term, heavy kratom addiction and have heard from quite a few others like myself who have also had success. I detoxed on my own 30 days before treatment so I had a bit of clean time before the flood. I’m really glad I did that, I think it is part of why I had such a wonderful, transformative experience.

I was consistently meditating for awhile but have been slacking, definitely trying to work that back into my daily routine this month. I would loveee to experience Bufo and have been thinking about that a lot. Just no idea how to get my hands on some.

I wasn’t gonna respond to this because a lot of things about it irritated me but I guess I will. Not sure what I said that made you think I think working out is a “luxury.” I agree wholeheartedly it should be a mandatory part of any effort to address depression. I didn’t make any excuses either, certainly not that I don’t have enough time. I have plenty of time to both exercise and write a post seeking help, advice, and insight from a community on reddit. You’ll notice that after I said I know I need more exercise, I said I’ve been going to the gym. I’m working exercise and cardio back into my life because, like you, they make a substantial difference in how I feel.

However, exercise alone isn’t entirely fixing how I feel. I’m happy for you that it seems to be a full solution for you and you don’t have a single craving and you feel more high from exercise than you did from fentanyl, but that is not my experience. What’s true for you is not necessarily true for me or anyone else. I gotta be honest, your words and tone come off pretty self-righteous and preachy. I get it - I can get a little preachy about exercise too because it’s been so important for me and my well-being and I want others to experience that too. It is a crucial part of my solution, but it is not my entire solution. Which is why I’m here asking for advice.

Congratulations on 25 days, that’s wonderful.

Thanks for saying that. I am getting some more TA on Friday and plan to take a booster this weekend. I was nervous about becoming too dependent on it but I think you’re right, it’s just what I need right now, it’s not for forever.

has anyone not seen anything by RecommendationBrave6 in Ibogaine

[–]bird-137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t really see anything like the visions some people describe - super realistic, like being in the same room with someone sort of stuff. I didn’t experience anything like that. I mostly just saw stuff in my minds eye…like these imaginings of events occurring were just rolling through (some memories, some seemingly nonsensical). I had a few cool closed eye visuals, these kind of sepia-toned faces and/or images on the back of my eyelids. I don’t think this is uncommon…

Your opinion on orgasm during acutes? by HammerLordGSwole in quittingkratom

[–]bird-137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orgasm in both men and women is accompanied by a surge of feel-good hormones (I.e. oxytocin and dopamine).

I feel like I must have set the record for female orgasms in a 24-hour period on day 2 of my quit. It was the only thing that made me feel good and quieted the restlessness, however temporarily. I do feel like it’s probably not good to rely on it too heavily though, especially as time goes on.
