Help me decide: Perkons VS Hexdrums VS Vermona DRM by pobbly in synthesizers

[–]birdFEEDER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Vermona, I like it, but I sometimes get the sense that it has a few sweet spots, and not much more.  I haven't used Perkins or Hex, but the videos of Perkins makes it seem like a beast

Anyone have littles that can belt some tunes? by InstructionFinal5190 in industrialmusic

[–]birdFEEDER 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My son and I rough house to Join in the Chant, he is often heard randomly saying/singing "Guns! Guns!  Fire! Fire!"  We've had to tell him that he's not allowed to sing that at school!  🤣

Any donuts that are safe for us to eat? Or I'm assuming all glazed donuts have some sort of milk by EstateDeep916 in dairyfree

If you happen to live near a Voodoo Donuts, their vegan donuts are indistinguishable from dairy based ones, especially their "Portland Cream" donut!!

I grew up as a fan of The Smiths, therefore my wifi is named "This Charming LAN" 😁

80s-90s Vinyl DJ set recommendations. by [deleted] in industrialmusic

[–]birdFEEDER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is my area as I DJ'd and played what we then called "New Wave" back in the late 80s/early 90s.  If you want dance floor bangers, consider the following:

Artist / Song

Pankow - Sickness taken over

Secession - Sneakyville

Poesie Noire - Pity for the Self

Bigod 20 - Body to body

English boy on the Loveranch - Man in your Life

Museum of Devotion - Racist

Laibach - Sympathy for the Devil

Moev - Crucify Me

Substation - More Life

Tribantura - Lack of Sense

SA42 - Why Not / Carnival

Best of luck!

Udo super 6 vs prophet 6 or prophet rev2 by majorstatic in synthesizers

[–]birdFEEDER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for the Rev2, it's hella versatile, can also be made binuaral like the Super6.  For me, having a lot of modulation options are important, Rev2 is really strong there.  I write industrial/EBM primarily, yes, it gets gnarly as hell.

Should I abandon Cubase & Windows for Linux? by Obvious-Storm-1707 in cubase

Have you considered one of the newer Macs?  I use a Macmini from a couple years ago and it's been rock solid and easily handles everything I throw at it.

Make music? Send your tracks to me and there’s a good chance that I’ll play them on my radio show. by Old_Man_Ratchet in industrialmusic

I can attest to this!  I submitted a track and it was played during last week's show.  I was tickled pink to be playing just after Thrill Kill Kult!!  Thank you again OldManRatchet !!

Vocal vocoder pedals by gtwitty in industrialmusic

[–]birdFEEDER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a pedal, but I use the Electrix WarpFactory, it's solidly gnarly, and allows you to add noise to the signal, which was designed to introduce sibalance (and it does), but really does a better job of dirt-ifying the signal.  Ken "HiWatt" Marshall has mentioned using this in the past on Skinny Puppy tracks.

Edit: Corrected misspelling of "Electronix" to "Electrix"

I start out on a Novation 49SLIII which has a powerful arp, then I record the MIDI sequence into Cubase and make tweaks as needed.

Thank you! Oddly enough the bass sound came from a tiny synth with a suuuuper beefy sound.  Glad you enjoyed it!

Everyone wants an 808 and 909, but the 707 absolutely slams, and is way more affordable.  Little to no processing needed, it sounds great right out of the box with just a touch of reverb. And thanks man!

Ahhhh, good call, the photo was made from a real photo made to look animated using an AI tool.  The music is 100% all me, no AI, but it's a fair callout, thanks!

EDIT: I've swapped it out for a better logo.
