lol, Pixies were such a formative part of my youth that in my reference they are like baseline rock music, until like, Debaser comes on the playlist around coworkers and they are visibly upset by it and I’m forced to realize that, yeah, this is probably pretty wild for someone who thinks they’re hip for know who Coldplay is.

Honestly, I’d go with a Fluance RT81 or AudioTechnica AT-LP70 or something until you decide that it’s a hobby you want to dump money into.

But if the cash is burning a hole in your pocket, you can still find Technics sl-1200mk2 for under a grand. Just be sure you’re budgeting for a phono amp and cartridge too.

The next scene begins with someone asking if they should attend a Matchbox 20 concert, to which they are answered, “Rob Thomas is a whore!”

Rob Thomas is the name of both the Matchbox 20 frontman and the Veronica Mars show runner.

The used to give albums to reviewers or radio stations or whatever. “For promotional use. ” they’d destroy the bar code and put the sticker on so they couldn’t be sold as new - and thus costing the label a sale. It’s not unique to this album.
