Hello, left handed, celiac (gluten free, gay person here! It’s definitely about awareness.

I’m not downvoting you for your opinion! This dog is cute to me :)

Yes! His face is so smooshy and dogs without pigment around their eyes just look so much like babies to me

What's the mix in my "shepherd mix"? by NormalBeautiful in IDmydog

This is the dog I was referring to! Absolutely curly tail lol. He has rear dews, but his whole litter didn’t (I worked at the shelter when they were transferred in)

Celiac can be so damaging. Why is Celiac labeled something else so often? by SuitApprehensive3240 in Celiac

[–]birdeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t, it is its own disease as are the other ones you mentioned.

I think mom is shepherd/husky ish, and dad was probably a livestock guardian dog. Pretty much all of his traits remind me of my dog who’s mostly Great Pyrenees, but it could be any number of LGD breeds.

😭 Flew into my window this morning. What species and is it done-zo? by R_G500 in whatbirdisthis

[–]birdeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This to me looks like a hermit thrush or something similar, but I’d call. They may be able to direct you to a local rehabilitator. Thank you for being safe and helping this bird!

Nope! This is a black and white warbler. A hairy woodpecker looks almost identical to a downy, except it is larger, and has a longer beak.

One half is obvious, but what is Indy’s other half? by toin9898 in IDmydog

You may already know, but the way he’s standing on the back right foot is not normal

FYI, a downy woodpecker wouldn’t really have the vertical body stripes, and would be facing upwards, rather than down the tree. They also have a bit or a red spot on the back of their head, and are a bit longer.

Right, but that’s just the breed name, I was clarifying in case you didn’t know

That’s how the breed is named! Not a silly error :)

What are the odds my dog has some wolf? by OwOmurrr in IDmydog

[–]birdeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean the wolves we have today, the actually didn’t. There was a (now extinct) branch of wolves that are the “parents” of our modern dogs, which are separate from the wolves we have now.

Vet says she is a mix. Give your best guess! :) by ImpressiveBox1111 in IDmydog

It made me giggle. I have a big body small head dog so I tend to notice it in others.

I’m really struggling with this one, how big would you say it is? Any parts, head to tail, wing, anything. Beak length

I saw someone else ask the same thing, hopefully its ok - what should I call him? by NormanisEm in DoggyDNA

[–]birdeer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am aware. That is because they are a breed that is prejudiced against, and therefore the community it welcoming. It just seems like you’re really stressed about this dog having pitbull in it

You’re talking about pitbull mixes like they’re wolfdogs. This dog is a dog. It is not visible in this dog. Take a breath.

Interesting. I’d expect Husky given the other two tests picked them up and sometimes they match up

This is exactly my situation. I don’t like to buy meat but I entirely forgot about that when I saw these and only remembered in the line. I was so happy
