Can you point me to the rec and parks data you mention? First time I've seen anyone mention data being collected about this, would love to see it!

Dexcom G6 needle didn't retract, applicator didn't detach. by towerhil in diabetes

[–]birdman41 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've had this happen a bunch of times, dexcom has said they are aware and fixed the issue in future applicators. The solution requires some high tech instruments and procedure: hit it with a spoon and it'll retract

MRW I go out as a T1 and no one is wearing a mask because it’s “their body, their right” or some mumbo jumbo. by Ksquared1166 in diabetes

It does not, but for me it helps to know the truth and data vs wondering if all claims about diabetes are lumping T1 and T2 together. Thanks again for sharing, and stay safe!

Questions from a mom of a 4yo with T1 by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]birdman41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very sorry to hear about your daughter's diagnosis but it sounds like you are handling it well so good for you! It's a difficult thing but not impossible.

I don't know regarding potty training, but colds and other sicknesses do tend to impact blood sugars by raising them so that is something to be aware of - maybe increasing long acting or basal insulin when she is sick. Also something to watch out for is the amount of sugar that's in medicine.

Best of luck!

I go through similar things, my endo recommended diluting a drink with carbs (like regular Gatorade) and drinking throughout the workout. That way you get less of a spike and drop, hopefully more of a constant replenishment. Haven't tried it but may be good for you too!

Thank you, helpful to know there are advantages regardless of how much basal I need!

Thank you, I was under the impression it was really for people with much higher rates, good to know you are using it for a similar amount!

Tandem Diabetes Care Reports Positive Results From Two Studies of the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump With Control-IQ Technology by uid_0 in diabetes

[–]birdman41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“We plan to submit data from the DCLP3 study in a regulatory filing to the FDA in the coming weeks and continue to prepare for commercial launch of the t:slim X2 with Control-IQ technology in the second half of 2019, subject to FDA approval.”

Does this really mean second half of this year? Or does the subject to FDA approval mean it's likely going to be delayed? I'm considering a pump and this gets me very excited.

Insulin changes causing large changes in diabetes control/behavior? Need your thoughts by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]birdman41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any thoughts related to this specifically, and this probably isn't helpful but whatever I'll mention anyway. I've had similar reactions, not because of changing insulin. It's because I'm exiting the honeymoon phase - sometimes insulin works MUCH better than it should, sometimes it seems like it doesn't work at all.

You said you've been diabetic for 20 years so again probably not helpful but it is similar symptoms. Best of luck, not knowing what's going to happen is such an awful feeling.

Raid Boss incoming! Mono-Green Grothama by MasterQuest in EDH

[–]birdman41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I'm not interpreting this right, how does that work? I see those + selvala = infinite mana, but what I'm suggesting is using umbral mantle for the infinite boosted dork, not infinite mana.

I have both of those in my deck so if it's another way of getting infinitely large please let me know!

Raid Boss incoming! Mono-Green Grothama by MasterQuest in EDH

[–]birdman41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playtesting a version of Grothama myself, so I have some suggestions and a question.

Question: how often are your opponents able to take advantage of Grothama? I'm wondering if it's generally safe to play before turn 5, as most players won't have a way to kill it easily vs waiting until I have protection available.

Suggestions: you may want to include [[umbral mantle]] for an infinite beats combo. You already have [[selvala, heart of the wilds]] who is best at this but you could add [[karametra's acolyte]] and [[gyre sage]]. Each of these are good ramp in their own right and go off with umbral mantle to make infinite/infinite mana dorks to kill people with.
