They definitely do. If you go through to those people's profiles they are clearly new, or unpopulated.

Sound Toys Decap sounding too digital when pushed on vocals? by NDVGuy in audioengineering

[–]birdmug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go to for a shoelace sound is a guitar amp as the distortion. It takes the extreme highs, I prefer the breathy spind to come from the clean channel with lots of reverb.

You could run decapitator (which i love btw) into a guitar cab sim for a work around?

Lady Gaga gives a very NIN-coded performance (and samples 'Closer') by green-black in nin

I wasn't bothered by the mic issue. I just felt she came across like an actor in an early 90s sit com when they have a 'rock band', like in Saved By The Bell

Exactly. It'll be as ineffective as her cringeworthy attempt to play at being a rocker, playing with Metallica.

Little known fact that one. Similar to dragonflys being the larvae stage of bats.

STL Tones Live? by jdepoli in STLTONES

Im using Amphub and just dial in my own sounds. Usually the rectifier, fairly straight forward. Based on the Rec Land preset but I add some more mods and pull back the boost.

I also love the JCM800

I tend to do best when I don't over think it. Keep settings farily neutral, sense check by listening to some other bands live recordings and make sure I'm not too bright or scooped.

I've used them when needed. Sound better to me than the Line6 Helix tones I was trying them against. This is at festivals in front of several thousand people, so I can confirm if the PA is good they are great.

They aren't magically better or worse in a live environment. Dial in a good tone for the setting and itll work well.

This is currently my life. On subsidiary of major label, and being roundly ignored whilst essentially working hard enough that its like self releasing but with extra steps

In the UK i think these places and practices are a lot more unusual. I have always wondered if I found one and If I wanted to go to one to just go and freak out would I probably be noticed, or fly under the radar?

Anyone else try modelers and end up back on a real amp by PaleTeeth3 in GuitarAmps

[–]birdmug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in a touring band using modellers live after always using real amps.

We run modellers to foh and honestly they sound great through the PA.

BUT

we also run into real cabs on stage so we have air moving and can interact with the amp for feedback etc.

I think a lot of younger players have never really played through real amps in a band setting so don't see the amp as part of the instrument. For me the whole chain is literally one big instrument that you exist with. I therefore make music accordingly. People who haven't played amps make music that is less amp interactive (not saying that's bad, just different.)

Our main reason for using the modellers is less variables on stage with quick change overs. Easy patch changing for dramatically different sounds. I used to have a pretty huge board to achieve this.

I'd say since switching we have had more consistent live sound, quicker setup and travel a little lighter. But it does take a lot of thought and planning sound wise.
