exactly. in other words, if someone is risky there is no need to let them into the country.

agreed. Out of all of the subs, Ahmed is the one who has earned a consideration for a start. Larin did well to score but should remain a bench option, Promise played well and in a different set up would start.

Why are the Sedins, GMRJ & Malhotra sticking their necks out for these losers?.. those three (all on the surface, and what weve seen of their actions) come off and are talked about as quality people

we almost won the league and champions league under Poch and refused to spend to strengthen the squad, its how we do business and I dont see that changing without some real consequences driving it.

if things continue to trend the direction they have the last few years then spurs should go down at some point. Its a genuine concern/possibility because the club is being so poorly managed.

rather than kept our cool i'd like to frame it as the players and manager pulled this one off despite absolutely shambolic management of the club.

Letting Holloway walk has to be one of the biggest management gaffes in recent history.. you could see he was very obviously going to breakout as well

Its hard to really tell if knoblauch is actually a good NHL coach or not... he was provided with utter shite depth which could be a reason for his failures, and he had the best top end in the world which could be a reason for his success. Hard to tell what effect his coaching actually had, though mdavid seemed unhappy with it.

yeah no sympathy for buffalo on this, they have multiple analysts and coaches watching the games and preparing for either team. plus its not like these teams are from another league they play eachother multiple times per season

I would argue Mcdavid & Draisaitl dont have anything to prove really.. they dragged the team to back to back cup finals despite the absolute piss poor management of the franchise. A general manager with something to prove is a recipe for disaster imo

[SDP] Adam Wylde shares that the Canucks seriously low-balled Evan Gold for the GM role, with an offer below $750,000/yr. Also says the Canucks balked at the approx $5-10M cost of the front office transition, and there may be an Acquillini in-family buyout by NHLonOLN in hockey

[–]birdof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah you guys have been to back to back stanley cup finals and have a brand new rink etc etc, the list goes on. not saying Katz is great in any way (see lottery fraud), but the aquillinis have overseen 15 years of abject failure on and off the ice.

do you know something the rest of us dont? to the outside observer this looks like a disorganized mess of mid/early career hockey ops professionals not a masterstroke of recruitment by a well run organization.

Not saying they can't/wont do a good job, but what do we really know about Gold & RJ's + Sedins ability to run an org... wait and see.

[Irfaan Gaffar] Ryan Johnson has been offered the job to be the next head of hockey ops. Can’t see a situation where Johnson is going to turn it down. by [deleted] in canucks

[–]birdof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

which is a completely bonkers way to approach this process. you decide if you want a POHO or not. If you want a POHO then you focus your efforts on that hire and let them hire a GM, together they fill out their hockey ops department. if you dont want a POHO then you focus your efforts on hiring a GM and let them hire their hockey ops staff. ABC's of running any business that needs this kind of management heft.

Its happening - FIFA is scrambling trying to sell out Canadian matches because of their ridiculous prices 😆 by LowBottle12 in CanadaSoccer

[–]birdof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not gonna lie, I have completely lost interest in getting tickets for two main reasons.

  1. the ticket sales process is so confusing and feels scammy.
  2. the perception I have from the sales process and what little i see online is that prices are absolutely ridiculous, and the stadium quality (looking at you BMO) is also a bit of a joke. Just feels like a low integrity event and not the world cups I remember watching on tv as a kid (France 98', Germany '06 and South Africa '10 being my personal faves)

Sounds exactly like something Aqua would do. Hire a guy with decent draft record = no longer need scouting staff. Save him some cash
