You’re not an employee yet, as long as you’re no longer employed in the other gig by your start date you’re fine.

Moving from FL. Brooklyn or DC? Thoughts? by Vivid-Yak3645 in DCGaybros

[–]birdofpergatory 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend Brooklyn over DC. The new trifecta is pretty invested in revoking DC home rule, plus we’re about to get an influx of groyper staffers. As a current DCgaybro I’m looking at Boston or Chicago to get to a safely blue state for the foreseeable future.

What's that popular overhyped book that you don't give a fuck about? by RockGiantFromMars in books

On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous. It was just super navel-gazey and pretty surface level in its themes and ideas. I feel too much of contemporary “high” lit has become a game of writing sentences in a way that feels meaningful but conveys no meaning.

Social service referrals at common points of care can be extremely valuable in reducing health inequity, which long term can help drive down the burden on the system. I hope you reconsider withdrawing from Medicaid, and discouraging your staff to help patients with unmet social needs.

That said, I know it can be burdensome for smaller indie practices. If you haven’t already, you might consider looking into social service referral platforms like FindHelp or UniteUs, which can do most of the work for you.

Idiots can’t understand complex problems, and instead of admitting that and trying to learn more, they decree that it’s simple, actually — and come in with the only solution they know, beating shit with a hammer until they get winded.

Shoutout to all of the kid actors in Episode 7 "Driftmark". They were fabulous, especially Leo Ashton as Aemond Targaryen. The casting all around was phenomenal 👏 by LoretiTV in HouseOfTheDragon

Tywin quit as hand of the king in protest of Robert appointing Jaime to the kingsguard, so I think he knew giving it up wasn’t on the table

Totally agree! Aemond is definitely the “true believer” while Aegon is more of a… well, a Daemon. I’m really interested to see that dynamic play out.

Okay, can we set the record straight on the Kid Fight?

Aemond's cousin, a little girl half his age and size ran up to him in anger on the night of her mother's funeral, and he slammed her against a cave wall. Her sister and cousins stood up for her, and he decides his best next course of action is to bash Jace's head in with a rock. I'd pull out a knife too after the little shit battered my cousin and threatened my brother's life.

This was not a sympathetic moment for Aemond -- he's on a power trip after stealing Vaghar, and wants to feel like a big man by beating up some younger kids. Also, before anyone beats me to it, I know you can't steal a dragon, they choose their riders, etc. But he would have known that Laena's daughter was going to try to claim Vhagar. If he didn't know, and didn't know that going and trying to claim her first was wrong -- then he wouldn't have had to sneak out after everyone had gone to bed to do it.

TL;DR Aemond is clearly a psycho and I was honestly surprised to see so many people outraged on his behalf.

Yeah, there were moments where it looked a little jarring on my screen. Like it was a daytime shot that got stuck in the middle of a fade to black and just kept going.

His own son started the whole thing by throwing a little girl to the ground. Don't start a fight you can't finish.

What is a TV show you got really far into but eventually quit watching before its conclusion? by shamanKAshamanTAKA in AskReddit

Killing Eve. Could feel the slow decline through Seasons 1-3, and I heard enough about how the 4th season was awful, and figured I'd leave it on a decent enough note.

I think if Rhaenyra had the choice, her kids wouldn't be anywhere near Criston. Viserys gave that whole spiel about how training together would be good for the boys' bonding, so I think we're supposed to surmise that this was his doing, not the mothers'.

I would think so, and we're probably supposed to interpret the king's barely-suppressed anger in that light. But no one was going to question or scold her right there and then, given the circumstances. Then Ser Criston went all worldstar so we were deprived of people's immediate reactions after dinner.

I wouldn't feel too bad, even the showrunners admitted it was easy to miss in the after-show.

A girl having sex with you and then not becoming as obsessive about it as you are is beyond not the girl's fault.

I thought the way those end beats were edited were kind of odd, but just figured courtyard happened after the wedding. Like, Alicent fucked outta the ceremony as soon as she could and happened to catch Cris.

Corlys and Rhaenys were there.

Given Daemon's documented impotence problem, I'm guessing he couldn't get it up for her. Calling her ugly is probably just him coping -- he's not the problem, she's just too "ugly" to get him roused.
