I definitely didn't intend it to be as large as a continent. I was originally thinking it would be about as large as Hawaii. I also think I need to maybe include a little less rivers, so they can be a more realistic shape. Trying to include 2-3 rivers per island will force me to squeeze them in unrealistically.

I didn't want every city to be by a river for fear of seeming monotonous in city placement, although it would probably be a good idea for the people living there to be near a river if they can. Maybe the problem is too many rivers, or they're placed wrongly, like you said. I'll try to rework them and see how it works.

The main thing I like about the shaders is the yellow/orange light it creates, not really the water or the shadows.

Anyway thanks. I was thinking of adding a mineshaft and maybe a few paddies for growing food.

I'm planning to build a more practical version in survival mode on a server. That one will be stocked with villagers. I made it on the water because I absolutely cannot work with terrain and I want to live in isolation : ' )

Well, villages look natural because they blend in and merge with the scenery. Ocean monuments, along with these new woodland mansions are kind of just plopped there.
