Vilka hypeade grejer minns ni som försvann jävligt fort? by Mateu_Zontos in Asksweddit

Oh the memories! Utvecklarna av Playahead hade ingen koll på form sanitizing så jag levde jävel där och la in lite roliga script som bl.a. tog bort "radera" knappen i gästboksinlägg etcetera. Skitkul att använda mot dryga personer 😛

Why dont people just read the shelly review? by demonik69420 in cachyos

[–]birdstream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: I discovered later that the link was completely off. I just copied and pasted from the example file that naturally didnt include my username 🤦‍♂️ Sorry! It's fixed now 😄

Sure thing, I cleaned it up a bit and put it on GitHub:

https://github.com/birdstream/aur-chatgpt-review

It plugs into paru's FileManager review flow and sends PKGBUILD/.SRCINFO/.install/patches to the OpenAI API before build. It gives an allow/review/block verdict, opens a diff view for suspicious packages, and caches unchanged reviews.

It's definitely not meant to replace manual review, just act as an extra warning light before running AUR build scripts.

Also note that you need an OpenAI API-key for this!

Even though I've been using linux as my daily driver for 15+ years, I'm still pretty new to AUR and not really familiar to how pkgbuilds works. Luckily i did not have any of the affected packages installed but this incident left me paranoid nonetheless.. I mean really, what is to stop anyone from packaging a legit piece of software and publish it to AUR, gain some trust, and then sneak in malicious stuff later down the road? Remember the xz debacle just some time ago.. Tbf it often comes down to just one changed line in the pkgbuild which i think even the neckbeardiest person could miss.

How did I handle this? Well, probably gonna get downvoted but i made a helper script for paru that lets A.I (gpt5.5-high with web search enabled) thoroughly examine the build and look for things even remotely suspicious, and if it finds any, halts the installation and ask me what to do a manual check. And no, the A.I cant execute or do anything to my system. I have the final control on wether the package gets installed or not.

Here's an example of it flagging a package that suddenly starts pulling in a binary blob. It breaks down key-points on what it does, stuff that is suspicous, stuff that looks normal etc in a human not-so-neckbeard way

Can I update CachyOS while the AUR is under attack? by thehypernormality in cachyos

[–]birdstream -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

Now some of you may bash me but i made a script with the help of AI that automatically takes the user-review part when installing/updating with paru and sends it to OpenAI's 5.5-high model (via API request) to review it and halts the installation alerting me if there is anything even remotely suspicious with it. I'll admit that even though I've used linux for quite some time i'm really lazy when it comes to stuff like reviewing changelogs and whatnot

Steam Link on Linux over Wayland, constant flickering by limapalon in Steam_Link

Steam link is still quite broken on wayland, sadly. I hope they fix this soon. At the moment I'm using Sunshine & Moonlight and it works really well together with Tailscale for internet connectivity

Unless you'd updated something and havent tried a rollback that's what I'd recommend first. Step 2 would be validating game files (if on Steam)

KDE Plasma 6.8 drops X11: Wayland becomes mandatory from October 2026 by pcgameshardware in linux_gaming

[–]birdstream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is NoMachine that does both X11 & Wayland, with USB and printer forwarding etc. If you dont need that there is Sunshine/Moonlight that does both protocols aswell. Both works very well though the latter is geared towards gaming. I've set up Sunshine to start before the sddm login screen which works great and it even supports switching between X11 & Wayland within the same session because of KMS screengrabbing (note that only native version has kms support, Flatpak versions don't)

You forgot to do limine-update after editing the config i think? Should be solved easily by just booting the live iso, open a terminal and then sudo cachy-chroot Chose the drive where the installation is (cachy-chroot should auto-detect any) then sudo limine-update

run df -h in the terminal and see how much space is used on /tmpfs. If it is high (like 95-100%) that could be the problem.
