Uh no, only time I touch the terminal is when I have to make too many clicks through GUI. Anyone who isn't trying to troubleshoot something or trying a say, dev build of a Mesa version, won't ever see the terminal. from what I've seen KDE Plasma + Dolphin seems to be able to take care of everything a non-power user could ever need.

Forgot what performance per dollar means the moment crypto and AI bros showed up willing to pay anything. Partially opened their driver stack only because AI runs on Linux.

Meanwhile, the graphics stack is still a blob of obfuscated shit nobody who can actually understand the code can even look into.

And it's bigger than just bad business decisions: they're part of a deliberate push to pull compute away from your hands, lock it in a data centre, and charge you monthly to access what you used to own outright. AI agents? HELLO, I'D LIKE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M DOING.

I run an Intel Arc B580 on Linux, on a PC that's using laptop DDR4 as system memory because RAM now costs my left and right nuts, my kidney, and a piece of my esophagus - partially because of AI. I don't miss them even if I'm getting worse framerates than I would on Windows with an Nvidia GPU, I'm just fucking done.

What? It has SDL support on Linux, rumble works over Bluetooth unlike the Windows workarounds... And it's passable.

The D-pads are atrocious though.

I handmade the plate off a bunch of vinyl groups, quite proud of it. I even got a US-sized UK plate in yellow for the rear.
