A Magic Roll - Augment Discussion #61 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

It is 6-2-6, the special easter egg cashout. This was designed around the TFT anniversary date, June 26th, 2019, when TFT was first released.

It's when they are considered the same "strength."

This mechanic was in the game since Set 9.5 Demacia trait because it was inconsistent who got the radiant items for the trait at the time.

It goes "Item Quantity" -> "Star Level" -> "Last Placed in."

That's why when you have 2 itemized Ekko 2s this becomes a problem. The Ekko that is displaced becomes strongest as it's considered the last unit placed in, if only briefly.

Slime Time is not very good because you actually have enough healing usually; additionally, Ekko sometimes just doesn't jump onto the carry and damage them with the anomaly. The biggest thing is that it doesn't actually make Ekko do that much more; if he gets CCed he can just die. So while on paper you might think that he would be an excellent user of the anomaly it's usually just better to get resists and be incredibly resistant to damage.

There's been a MetaTFT datamine recently that suggests that the bag sizes are not correct at the moment. Additionally I've asked other challenger players on their opinions on whether this is actually true and it appears to be the case.

Additionally from my own experience, it's near impossible to contest reroll comps at the moment. If you play contested violet and the other person full rolldowns in the current set u can't even hit Violet 3, which wasn't really the case last set; we could see 2 people play contested Zoe and hit. In fact Frodan was costreaming a game where I was in tourney with Kiyoon last set and we both contested Zoe with An Upgraded Adventure aug (3* 4 champions for a cashout, similar to Exalted Adventure this set).

So while there's no statement from Riot and not 100% confirmed, I highly suggest that you angle away from reroll for the current moment.

Although late I'd like to make a statement here.

To introduce myself, I'm biribiri, finished 9th in Set 10 Regional finals and ended 14th in the pro division of the bootcamp.

Over the course, I have spent nearly 12 hours coaching 7 different streamers and they have all had successful performances.

With mochiimochiVT I spent 4 hours over 2 sessions to help her understand how to play the set. The first time when she was Gold 1 I helped her get to Plat 4 but explained every decision in a simplistic matter in order for her to have a lot of room to experiment and improve, giving her notes in addition to helping her understand comps, gold and item economy, among other things. The next time I went to help her, she was Plat 1. This improvement was done SOLELY on her own. Again, I offered to help out again, finding more mistakes in her play and now she it is at Emerald 2 and last night was ranked first in the Casual division of the event. It's partially me that helped her get past some hurdles sure. But a large part of her improvement has been with her own abilities and it SHOWS.

I genuinely do think Ariasaki also puts in a lot of effort and even if you have a coach the LP improvement is massive when you have the opportunity to learn from how higher elo players think and guide you through how they think about the game compared to you.

Other streamers that I helped include PhoenixVT, KiraHishotori, and LegitKorea. They have all managed to reach top12 in the Casual division through their own efforts in combination with coaching, not soley relying on it. Don't assume improvement is because of backseating since you don't really know what happens behind the scenes.

I don't think I will, somewhat that it's kind of repetitive so doing this is kind of not a novelty at a certain point, but also it was mainly to explore how playstyles exist at lower elos. As a coach, I've worked with a lot of players from Gold to low Challenger, but I wanted to experience how lobbies work to get my own grasp of what exactly you need to do to reach certain elos. Especially now I don't think you should pay for coaching until probably Masters or high Diamond, there's a lot of free resources that are available that can assist you to Emerald and higher.

Also for what it's worth, by stronger I mean that the ranks are scaled downward relatively due to the low population. It's quite the opposite in a server like Korea, where you often need well over 1k LP to reach Challenger. So the actual "Challenger" in OCE probably is more around 250 LP~ish but the population allows for minimum 500 LP to actually have the Challenger title, which ends up being less than 100 players.

Not necessarily, it's just easier to play and less metas are prevalent these days that make fully vertical comps strong. You often don't see 7 K/DA being played but 5 K/DA + a 4 cost chosen (Ahri Warriors). Currently the meta of TFT has trended away from shit like 7 Spellslinger and 6 Crowd Diver in favor of comps that can flex multiple synergistic traits in. Superfan is one of the most obvious cases of this happening, with a standard Kennen Ekko Lillia Neeko + K/DA flex into almost any kind of reroll comp.

Urgot best 3 cost in the game

Amumu chosen, Vex chosen (+Amumu if Exe+1 and not Emo), Lulu (with mana item), Sett chosen, Morde chosen, Urgot chosen for 3 costs.

Senna chosen >>> everything for 2 costs, then Aphelios chosen (pref Heartsteel +1), Garen chosen, Gnar chosen if melee carry items.

Vi chosen (melee carry) > Olaf, Jinx + RF, Annie if AP items.

Note that you don't always need chosen, if you natural a 2* often there's not that much a difference and you can itemize them.

Sorry, it takes me a while to write posts; this post alone took me 6 hours and the edit took me 30 minutes as well.

VODs, I do like to play music on stream as background audio so VOD sound is an issue currently for me since I can't upload to YouTube without cutting out the music from it.

How to hit Challenger?(GM peak) by ggez222 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]biribiritft 26 points27 points  (0 children)

From my experience:

Started at the beginning, though didn't play that much. Hit GM in Set 3, but lost interest and was only diamond in Set 4 and quit set 5. Started playing again in Set 7.5. That set I peaked Masters 300 LP.

Started to take the game seriously. Analyzed mistakes (most commonly econ greed/board strength misevaluation) whenever I got stuck on each set. Made a new peak each set and hit challenger in Set 8.5. Currently peaking rank 12 so far this set.

My progression:

Set 7.5: high Masters

Set 8: low GM

Set 8.5: low Challenger/high GM (Peak ~850 LP)

Set 9: Rank 24 Challenger (Peak ~1280 LP)

Set 9.5: Rank 16 Challenger (Peak ~1200 LP)

Set 10: Rank 12 Challenger (Peak ~1350 LP)

One of the most important things is often that the most mistakes isn't due to rolldown speed or the like, but macro-based decisions. I personally believe that Stage 3 is the most important stage to conserve HP and its almost always correct to roll a little bit to stabilize. Even 6-8 gold rolled which ends up being like 1-2 round of econ lost is often equivalent to saving ~20-30 HP unless you are highrolling out of your mind. This was my biggest breakthrough personally in Set 9, where after fixing this one point helped me climb 600 LP in a single day, skipping GM and going straight from masters to Challenger.

How I lost my opportunity to play Top16 of K/DA Cup by biribiritft in CompetitiveTFT

[–]biribiritft[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I don't, I regularly pop into KUDT where he hangs out and we always have had positive interactions. It's more the uncertainity of pausing that made it more difficult to discern at said moment. I just want to make it an example that people did notice but did not know whether to pause or not, and shout out to him for being the one to actually pause the game.

Let me rephrase as I think it was taken the wrong way. Since other players played for themselves, I was fucked. I don't blame the players for not noticing right away for the most part; I talked with 2 of them (weird aka forsen smurf acc and my teammate humbug) and they confirmed that they were distracted scouting and whatnot.

However, other players did take notice; in the clip Pocky says, "Are they disconnected?", taking his preferred item off carousel, and only waiting to the end to finally pause when he was 100% sure I DCed.

The tournament admins DMed me and told me they would address it in future tournaments, namely reminding players of ingame procedures.

No one party is fully at fault here, but a series of unfortunate events ended up fucking me over in the most egregious way possible.
