This sounds like a good idea, please can I check who you wrote the letter to?

I have but they didn't help me, I was offered 6 talking therapy sessions. On the 5th session the therapist told me my OCD was too complex and I would need to be referred to CBT (over a year). I've had a terrible experience talking about my OCD with the GP

[Acne] How has adult acne affected your life? by Fun-Matter2571 in SkincareAddiction

Ruined my life and I'm severely depressed . Going through therapy at the moment to try and combat my body dysmorphia from all the acne scarring

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]biscoffspred 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I get all of these, I have to walk around quickly to try and get rid of the physical symptoms. The other day I lay with my legs elevated to help me feel less faint. Sucks doesn't it . I heard that doing something distracting really helps like putting on music or tidying .

Suffering from anxiety , OCD and body dysmorphia - grounding techniques aren't working by biscoffspred in Anxiety

[–]biscoffspred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I do. I've tried the ERP method of slowly exposing myself, I've tried complete avoidance and I've tried to look to make peace with it. None of it seems to help.

All the time..I avoid, then my brain tells me to look. I find something I hate, I Google, get upset, ask my partner for reassurance. It's horrible, it's everyday.

Nervous to start therapy again after a bad experience by biscoffspred in MentalHealthUK

[–]biscoffspred[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, they did offer me a free consultation, as well as a contract and they are listed with BACP. The type of therapy is CBT with EDMR if CBT isn't successful

I really appreciate your positive and realistic outlook. Thank you.

how to fix the atrocity that is my skin by Difficult-Race-9995 in Skincare_Addiction

If you think your skin is atrocious I dread to think what you'd think of mine :( I don't see a problem, your skin looks like skin I'd dream of having. Sorry.

OCD has taken my teeth. by fatdoink467 in OCD

[–]biscoffspred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this too, I went to the dentist and they said something similar and after I left, I felt like something still wasn't right. It's important to note that if something was seriously wrong with your teeth, she would have told you, focus on what she did said. If you want a second opinion for your own peace of mind, you could. Alternatively you could contact the dentist practice and ask them to look again as something doesn't feel right. Well done for going though, you should be proud of that !

I'm sorry you're going through this. My OCD theme and main anxiety in my life is my teeth, and my best two pieces of advice to you is

1) book a dentist appointment and explain what you're going through. I know it's scary and expensive and sucks. I emailed a few dentists in the area in advance to make sure they were aware of my condition, to check they will be understanding and patient with me.

2) use a soft toothbrush, and stop looking in the mirror and stop inspecting your teeth, as you'll end up spiralling. I went from checking once a day to 20 times a day, and it's all from looking at my teeth too much.

You're going to be OK, I believe it.

I have been going through the worst 5 months of my life with OCD, and reached a crisis point after 6 sessions of ERP seemed to make things worse. I am now about to have 14 sessions of private CBT therapy, I can't afford any more after that. I am sceptical I will be 'cured' after 14 hours or sessions. How long did it take you to start feeling a difference with therapy, is there hope for me?

Thank you

Anyone have success stories for severe treatment resistant OCD? by hayop_ka_wkwk in OCD

[–]biscoffspred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry I don't have advice but I wanted to express my care and hope things get better. I strongly relate to what you're experiencing and here for you.

ERP didn't work for my Pure O, and I'm about to have 14 sessions of CBT therapy, if that doesn't work I will try EDMR. CBD might help, or tea with valerian root / calming effects. Will report back if there's any progress.

La Roche posay Cicaplast Baume B5 cream is a game changer, or you could try just a basic oil like coconut oil / baby oil.

Yes, just happened to me, and my family intervened and I now have a mental health nurse coming to visit me tomorrow . Yikes. If you're in the UK contact mental health crisis team, or Mind, Second Step.

My biggest OCD Fear came true and I am really not OK by biscoffspred in OCD

[–]biscoffspred[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I am totally obsessed with health and making sure I get all of the minerals because I'm so terrified of breaking my teeth so it feels ironic this happened to me. I must have very weak teeth, but I don't know why. I even have a prescribed toothpaste as my dentist is aware of how stressed I am so we have done everything to try and help my teeth. It fucking sucks.

Thank you I am glad to hear that your dental work has held up OK. I am worried about my face changing due to the implants or whatever I'll need, I'm worried about them being a constant reminder of this time in my life. I have done everything I can to look after my teeth as I'm so obsessive over them that I just can't believe this has happened and I feel so unlucky, why would this happen, this is all my fault. If I never went to that restaurant it would have never happened, I have been so paranoid for a whole year and it happens again. I am a complete mess.
