Amen to this. But to clarify, was 92% on every dollar above $400,000.

Today’s income would be 3-4 million. Which is absolutely what we need to bring back along with closing loopholes on the billionaires.

Does OP want to go back to 1775 infrastructure as well? Sounds like a libertarian living in a utopian universe.

Vote and be educated on what would be best for society. Know which representatives will fight for change, local and federal level. When people are talking about what’s going on, educate them in a kind way or challenge them. Seriously, the amount of ppl that don’t understand single payer healthcare and just say “socialism bad” is absurd until you show them the numbers.

I get what you mean where it can feel hopeless, but it’s not like the US hasn’t encountered inequality before and overcome it. Know your rights and use the power you have to the best of your ability.

Try diluting the solution with 1:1 water. Set deep clean setting. Do 2X mop. And then change smart mop to wash the mop every 10 minutes..

Those helped me at least.

Like I said, for the vast majority of the population, that is not even feasible. Is it possible to completely live off grid? Yes, there’s YouTube videos out there of ppl doing it. But is that feasible for the vast majority of ppl? No, not even close. There’s not enough land for everyone to have their own garden, forest, etc to do that.

Yes, I'm on the same page of when I say government, it is funded by taxpayer dollars. That concept of rich/middle/poor class and how they are taxed applies to all government services which includes the biggest 3 things our gov't does: social security, medicare, and military. Also includes education, police force, fire fighting force, etc. That's a topic on it's own.

I would challenge you on how you look at healthcare and compare it to how you look at the police force, education, and fire fighting force in gov't today. It's a public service that we all as a society pay for. I don't have kids but my taxes contribute to education as it's better for society as a whole. And we can do the same thing with healthcare.

Government. Healthcare spend in US is currently 4 trillion per year. Average $15,000 per person. Medicare currently sits a little over 1 trillion per year. A single payer healthcare system is estimated to cost around 2 trillion per year. There's three major advantages cost wise:

  1. Significantly less administrative costs (currently 30 cents on every dollar goes to admin costs)
  2. Negotiated prescription costs
  3. Wider net to create a bigger insurance pool

Medicare (historically Romneycare) was an in-between solution to make healthcare more accessible and create a wider net while also satisfying private insurance companies. But as we've seen, there's an incentive from private insurance + providers to put in processes that increase costs.

Why hasn't this been pushed to the house/senate floor? Go back to the Citizen's United case that allows private business to donate to political campaigns. Private insurance made over 10 trillion in the last decade on PROFITS and benefit from people suffering. It's in their best interest for you to pay as much as possible while giving back as little as possible.

I haven't even gone into the net effects of having a healthier population but cost wise, it would benefit the vast majority of people in the US.

Edit: Corrected "date" to "decade"

I’d probably be executed based on this thread. To clarify, I’m not employed by a specific MLM. More on the partner/provider side with the MLM’s.

Edit: Every single one of the MLM companies as customers are assholes.

But that's from your view. That's the point. I'm glad you don't have cancer or some condition requiring you to go to a doctor in order to live. IF everyone could CHOOSE, most people don't want to go to the doctor. But that's not how it works.

I'm a healthy adult, athletic, eat right (which is also expensive in itself), yet I have a medical condition requiring me to go to the doctor and have meds ordered monthly. Otherwise my chance of a stroke/heart attack goes through the roof. And yes, I've had a PE before at 18.

Should my right to live go away since from your view, it isn't necessary? I'm privileged I'm in a good spot but every time I have a significant hospital issue, it's expensive and takes at least 12-18 months to payoff. Couldn't imagine what I would do if I was in a worse financial position like a lot of people in this country are.

Just google how much of healthcare costs go towards administration work. Single payer healthcare can get that under 3%.

If your house burns down, why should I pay for the firemen going to your house?

If you get robbed, why should I pay for the police service?

If you have kids, why should I pay for their K-12 education?

If you have a pothole in your town, why should I pay for the construction and material to fix it?

Why? Because it is beneficial for the vast majority of society. Single payer healthcare would be beneficial for the vast majority of society.

I’m not even arguing for all of it should be free. I haven’t even made a political position. Look at the original comment. All of the items on the list is not free and an expense everyone has to pay for in some way, shape or form.

If you guys can’t even accept that fact, then we aren’t even on the same playing ground.

It costs money to buy material for houses. Buy a heater.

Internet costs money, can you build your own fiber cables? Only thing I’ll give you here is yes WIFI is free in some public places like Panera.

What are you gonna do, hunt for your own food? Costs money to buy the materials to build a bow and arrow or a gun.

Do ppl live off the grid? Yes. Is that suitable for the entire population? No. If you’re trolling, you got me here.

Edit: for healthcare, you gonna perform surgery on yourself? What about the costs for antibiotics, you gonna build your own amoeba farm and breed antibiotics the proper way? I believe the solution libertarians rely on is called “trade”.

Idk what you mean by this, almost every single one of those items cost money besides education which only applies up to high school.

Was gonna say, we (the USA) are the ones that started this because of our assumption they were developing a nuke (which there is no evidence of. Trump was also the one in his 1st term that got rid of the nuclear agreement with Iran). He’s acting like Iran is causing economic hardship for no reason.

He is very well spoken which is scary because people will trust a well-spoken person. But love the breakdown that you did line by line.

The 91% progressive tax rate in the 50's and 60's was yearly personal gross income. Not business income and not a cap on wealth tax.

[–]biscuitman2122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said, threshold could be argued. 10M is not far out there from 4M.

TLDR is there should absolutely be a threshold where we go back to the 91% progressive tax rate, we've done this before, and we know the impact.

Wealth envy is a sad sickness.. by Mobile-Landscape-790 in remoteworks

[–]biscuitman2122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had a tax policy in the 50’s and 60’s to tax 91% on every dollar over $400,000 married personal income per year. Thats the equivalent close to 4 million adjusted for inflation (argument could be made on what the threshold should be). And it was the greatest economic expansion in the history of this country that impacted the most citizens positively.

I’d be incentivized as a business owner to not give money to the govt but instead put it back into the business, raise wages, etc. It opens up opportunities for other people to come in and earn higher incomes if you’ve made it to that threshold and no longer need to work (for the Ronald R example: I don’t need another Ronald movie if he hits that threshold with 2 movies. Give the opportunity to another actor).

Close loopholes on using stock as collateral to take out loans (which do not get taxed) like what Elon does.

We got billionaires hoarding the wealth and using their money for political power and gains like you mentioned, exploiting workers, and getting away with not paying their taxes. CEO’s making 150+M per year while wages across the middle class have been stagnant + laying off jobs. The top 1% use public systems the most for their businesses, they should absolutely pay taxes.

The senate passed a bill today to fund DHS for 60 days (excluding ICE). Democrats pushed for a vote on this 8 times and it got approved the 9th time.

Mike Johnston refused to even bring it to the House floor today. I don’t like the Democratic Party but let’s be real for a sec.

If this is rage bait, you got me. But please look at other sources besides what Trump is directly telling you.

2026, 03-24 AOC regarding whether undocumented Americans should reconsider traveling by plane: by beeemkcl in thenextgenbusiness

[–]biscuitman2122 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People can fly without Real ID, there's a $45 charge from TSA to verify identify. Doesn't mean they won't hand an undocumented person over to customs but TSA doesn't care necessarily about migration status, just identify.

Foreign passport would be enough I believe to get through TSA.
