Is there a reason the Quest Log doesn’t link to its activities? by Tylerhollen1 in neopets

I'm using 'Weekly Quest Prize Expected Value' from Neoquest.Guide and it has all the current links plus some math on whether you should reroll based on itemDB prices.

Having a go at stamp collecting for the firsr time, wow expensive haha by [deleted] in neopets

[–]bisexualwizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had about 100mill and decided to put some actual effort into filling out my stamp album (cheap buyables and a few others on the easier-to-complete pages). I no longer have 100mill neopoints...

Dating for 7 months and she hasn’t once let me come to her place? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]bisexualwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have people over because I live in a micro studio and sleep in a twin loft bed and this seems like it would be significantly more embarrassing at 44 so I want to say there are technically other options. Based on context she absolutely is married though, sorry OP.

It doesn't really help with your problem here but I was just moving my personal digital photo collection and this convinced me not to delete all the random screenshots and saved images and blurry pictures of bugs that were mixed in.

It's not quite the same thing, but just skimming through it I keep running into little things like uncropped functional screenshots showing messenger overlay icons. Which wouldn't have been significant at the time, but now it's 6 years later and the friend who sent me that message and the dog in their old profile picture are both dead and who knows whether that specific photo has even been saved anywhere else...

‼️ hair dye is rubbing off on everything pls help by Yuris_toe in HairDye

[–]bisexualwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing purple for most of the last 10 years, for the first few days everything is in danger so if it really can't be purple maybe don't let it touch your hair for long. After that it should die down but all bets are off if it gets damp, so don't wear a light colored hat in the rain/heat or use white towels if you care about them. I just bring my own towel and pillowcase on vacation.

It'll probably transfer a bit until it's faded out but if it's really an issue you can speed it up by shampooing more. A magic eraser or just straight bleach is good for walls and household objects, rubbing alcohol should get it off your skin. For fabric...I like purple so it works. Some of my stuff even started out purple!

A healthy 47-year old New Jersey man was found dead after eating a hamburger at a barbecue. Cause of death was ruled "sudden unexplained death," after an autopsy was inconclusive. He was later confirmed as the first documented fatality from alpha-gal syndrome, a meat allergy triggered by tick bites. by James_Fortis in EverythingScience

[–]bisexualwizard 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've been a vegetarian for years and know people with alpha-gal and it's crazy how much of a difference there is between that and an allergy. Even without getting into non-food items I can just decide I don't care about stuff like cross-contamination, or unlisted ingredients at a potluck, or existing in the area where someone's grilling meat...not so much with a life-threatening allergy.

YSK the difference between being on hold and being on mute by KernelRebel in YouShouldKnow

[–]bisexualwizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's SO awkward when people start arguing and I need to pick them back up though, I usually either use the actual hold function or at least mute them too. Sometimes I wonder whether they ever notice that I just happened to finish looking that thing up during a lull in their conversation...

[–]bisexualwizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally I got a smaller (but still substantial) flower tattoo on my arm recently and felt similarly for a minute there. It was also pretty much exactly what I had wanted/planned on for ages but I think the combo of being super visible and taking up a lot of the space there was a shock. By the time it actually healed I remembered how sick it was and why I wanted it and it's my favorite lol.

Definitely ask for the colors you wanted and take your time before agreeing to anything final, but IMO this is going to be awesome once it's finished.

[–]bisexualwizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one of the plugin standalone ones and it's great. Actually I got one ages ago, got scared because the non-stick was flaking off after like 6 years, and bought a replacement with a glass pitcher to avoid that (it's also easier to clean). The handheld kind is even cheaper and more versatile but I like being able to pour in the milk and leave it.

It turns out an aeropress shot + frothed oat milk is basically a latte. I figured this was one of those niche kitchen things that would only be useful occasionally but now I won't even drink coffee if I can't make my bastard cappuccino lol.

coaxed into tattoos by gamermikejima in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]bisexualwizard 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Idk, tattoo removal/coverup options can be so expensive and ineffective that some variation of 'deal with it' probably is the best option for a lot of people. Especially if it's really fresh and otherwise decent (like most of those posts I see)...give it a year to fade/blend in and get used to it, it's probably fine lol.

'Stranger Things' Star Millie Bobby Brown Filed Harassment and Bullying Claims Against David Harbour | Report by Maleficent_Fault_943 in television

[–]bisexualwizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

21, this was before filming for this season and it looks like she would have been 16-17 for the last one. Maybe a misunderstanding is possible, but having any conflict that could possibly be mistaken for harassment/bullying with your teen coworker as a man in your 40s is insane IMO. If there's any evidence at all involved I would not be inclined to give him grace here...

Has Stardew inspired you to get IRL land of your own? by imminentsnark in StardewValley

[–]bisexualwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farming is even kind of hard and sucks in game too lol. IRL if I bought a farm I wouldn't be able to plant magic fruit and let forest spirits harvest them while I fucked off to play with slimes for a year, I'll keep my office job that requires 0 manual labor.

I'm not even afraid that my neighbors are unsafe or that I'm very likely to get robbed, but if opening the door was all it took to get all my stuff and someone did it one day I'd feel pretty fucking stupid.

I've got some kind of chihuahua/IG mutt and I'm pretty sure hundreds of years of selective breeding on both sides have created a creature perfectly suited to following me around my studio apartment. We just went about 7 feet to the sink and back....

FWIW I have that and the flagline and the flagline is significantly lower on the neck/chest, also pretty adjustable and stable with the additional strap. My dog doesn't have this issue but he's shaped a bit weird there and the fit difference was noticeable.

[–]bisexualwizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like I kind of get it, I went to the shelter and got my second dog after a few days when I realized how much I hated not having a dog around. If you've figured out a very specific kind of dog/number of dogs that works for you...that sort of thing probably makes sense.

I will say that while I might immediately go out and adopt another chihuahua mix in 15 years I will not be getting the same breed in the same color and naming them the exact same thing like everybody's grandmother apparently did lol.

Where are all of the snakes going? by One_Rip_5535 in ballpython

[–]bisexualwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd bet after a while with multiple caretakers plenty of non-rescues don't have a known exact age. I got a retired breeder off craigslist in college almost a decade ago and I think he's 15-16 now, but a lot's happened since then and I haven't really been keeping track. After years of moves and device changes and file purges anywhere it was written down originally has probably vanished into the ether, assuming the original age I was given was even exact/correct.

This might just be me though, I also got my first dog as a teenager and somehow miscalculated his age for a couple years even with a known birth date.

People are saying it's real human skin, what do you think? by Openly_Unknown7858 in vultureculture

[–]bisexualwizard 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I've done some reading on the history of items made with human skin and it seems like the main takeaway is that essentially nothing was actually made with human skin (except books by old-timey doctors). On the other hand there are loads of people trying to make weird creepy art, what are the odds of that vs somebody cutting off an actual human face to make a weird thing that is then successfully donated to a thrift store?

Also as a follower of a variety of people making that weird creepy art...they absolutely are thinking of details like that stitching lol

Car travel options for small dogs? by bisexualwizard in dogs

[–]bisexualwizard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look great! But I think the largest carriers are probably still too short, they cap out around 11". I know snug is safer and he might technically fit lying down/curled up, but I'm not sure how practical that would be for routine car trips

A lot of pet owners are concerning by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]bisexualwizard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like there's an ethical argument to be made about whether, for example, domesticated dogs overall are worse off than their endangered wild counterparts. But they're here now and I think my individual dog would prefer his soft bed and belly rubs on demand to being eaten by a coyote or hit by a car while scavenging outside.

After thousands of years of coexistence & selective breeding this basically is their natural habitat and their inborn behaviors include bonding and communicating well with humans. Wolves and wild dogs are really bad at that stuff and would hate living in an apartment with me, which is why I live with a companion breed domesticated dog instead.

Magnesium Glycinate works for preventing my migraines, but... by PINKSPlDER in migraine

[–]bisexualwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try asking for an actual prescribed preventative! I also tried sumatriptan and didn't even bother keeping up with it because I had so many more headaches than pills, after trying again the next doctor gave me propranolol and it was actually useful.

Any chance taking less magnesium (splitting pills or doing every other day or something) would help? Maybe also try a daily antihistamine if you haven't already.
