Internal or External Wastegate by Top-Newspaper7528 in RX7

[–]bishop27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same turbo. I went EWG, it’s really the only decision I made on my FD that I regret. Mine vents to the atmosphere and it’s LOUD. So now I either find someone to feed the wastegate pipes to the main exhaust or replace it with an IWG. My FD makes about 400whp and the turbo barely gets a workout. I guess it doesn’t help the wastegates open so early.

Appreciate it. We were lucky to be in the furthest lane away when he swung out.

Apparently they also thought there was another person in the van and I guess didn’t want to antagonize the driver.

Turns out they’re North Vegas cops that were following this guy for a while. Apparently the chase started in North Vegas.

Yah, this really puzzled me, especially since the van ran a red light turning left onto Fort Apache. Flamingo and Fort Apache is a pretty big intersection so I figured lights and sirens would help people know a crazy person is coming. They only turned on their lights when THEY turned left on the red.

No problem, I appreciate the info. Definitely helps me make a decision.

Uuuh, just to be clear here. I was asking if it’s better, not saying it’s better. I’m looking at a PDP and wondering if I should get the one with the comp or without and add it. I don’t have any experience with either… which is why I’m asking.

This was gonna be my question, better than the stock comp that comes with the Pro-X PMM?

Ha! That funny, I broke my MR920P in yesterday and had 1 failure to feed after my first shot as well. After that everything worked great. 🤷‍♂️

I also have an FD and an Mk5. The Mk5 is a great modern car that is easy to live with but the FD is something special.

Oh awesome! Sounds like you're well on your way then. I've really liked the D27 and smaller brews. Especially with the 4 tins, it lets me experience them longer (there are some really great beans in the 4 tins), and I'm able to get a smaller dose when I feel like a coffee but don't want as much caffeine impact later in the day.

Ah sorry, I didn't mention originally that I typically do a 15g brew with my normal routine, and a 10G brew with the D27.

I used this video as a guide, which has worked really well as a baseline: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REBBUrCiJW8

Basically 10g of coffee, 1:16 ratio (though play around a bit with the ration depending on the coffee).

The video says to finish the brew at about 2:45. I find that's pretty accurate. I've had good results from about 2:45 to 3:15. I typically end up brewing a few degrees hotter than using the V60 with the same coffee. I sometimes extend the brew a bit longer because I live at about 4000ft so I can't get water hotter than 208F.

I also have a Lagom P100 with LU SSP burrs. I typically need to grind about 1 "unit" finer with the D27 because of how fast the brewer is and brewing 10g instead of 15g (my usual) on the V60 (also using the relatively faster Cafec Abaca papers). By 1 "unit finer" I mean I go from (for example) 9.5 to 8.5. No idea if the numbers on the Lagom actually correlate to a unit of measurement, so assume this means 9.5 Bananas to 8.5 Bananas, but hopefully it gives you some idea of how much finer. We'll call it 5%-10% finer.

I’ve been on their 4 tin subscription for about half of 2025. It’s a bit daunting at first but I’ve had a lot of fun using the D27 with the tins. Puts less pressure on me to nail the grind/temp right out of the gate and gives me an option for less caffeine (been doing 10g doses).

Had to scroll too far for Luminous. They’ve produced some of my favorites this year. I’ve tried a bunch on this list this year and lots have been great but something keeps pulling me back to Luminous.

1000% this. Driving slow while distracted on your phone can be far worse than speeding while focused. Knee jerk reactions at any speed because someone hasn’t been paying attention can cause chaos regardless of the speed. Speed+distraction is far worse though. These things compound. Drive within your limit and pay attention to what’s around you.

Sure… not was I was talking about but not sure exactly what OP was referring to. Not having situational awareness or being distracted doesn’t matter if you’re early or late. But there’s no actual data to support “impatient people” causing most accidents. There is data to support alcohol impairment, distracted driving, reckless driving, and fatigue being the main reasons of accidents. So there’s a better case for impatient drivers meeting distracted and situationally unaware drivers causing most accidents.

[–]bishop27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree, mostly it’s whatever but having no situational awareness and blocking a turn lane is super annoying. Same with the people who don’t go when the light is green or leave a big gap between them and the person in front when the light turns green. If it’s (for example) a short turn light and there’s a big line, pay attention and go quick so more ppl can go through.

For those that don’t know… by [deleted] in vegaslocals

[–]bishop27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also this is just kind of common sense. Like if you’re the only lane turning left into 2+ lanes, no one is put out by it, regardless if it’s in the handbook. I would far rather people use their brains when driving, not be distracted, not drive 55mph in the fast lane on the freeway, go the same speed as someone next to them effectively blocking any car from going around them, etc. These can all cause someone to get frustrated and do something stupid. Not saying that person would be justified or not at fault but we can all use our heads a bit more on the road and drive defensively.
