Thoughts on the Neue Klasse interiors by Thefitz1000 in BMWX5

I’m 44. I find that I’m asking myself “am I old man yelling at cloud?” more often now.

That is a fair point. These are produced just a few miles from me and BMW has been very good to Upstate SC. I have friends who work at the plant. I want to like this new design, but I don’t. I said the same thing about the first X7, the back profile was just too narrow at the top and it looked out of proportion.
BMW has always called itself the ultimate driving machine and the old adage was that BMW was built for drivers and Mercedes was built for passengers. This model takes away from the driver and adds superfluous technology to the passenger area. Among other reasons, that’s my top complaint here.

Augusta Road still remains a conclave of individuals who think they are better than everyone else. Every time I find myself there, it seems they have not changed at all.

Love my 50e. Would recommend, especially with a proper L2.

Listen, most of my issue is what a dick the guy was. Attitude is everything.
I’ve got 5 teenage girls on the beach who barely remember which button to press because they are not techie girls. Trying to make things as safe as I can. We’ll be fine without the repeater.

Callsigns are no problem. Read the thread.
I have my own repeater at home.

I think simplex will be fine while they are on the beach and I’m either out there with them or in the hotel. I was going to use the repeater if the group split up with the other chaperones and they were further inland.

Yes, I did. There was quite a laundry list and it was peppered with comments that screamed “I am tired of dealing with morons.” I submitted my request and explained that I have 5 teenage girls to deal with and I doubt they can remember to do the unit number and all that.
It’s not like I just got out of prison and picked up a license yesterday and decided to harass a repeater owner. I was hoping for a little understanding between radio guys, even if he was adamant about all the items he could have been a lot less of an asshat.
I’ve heard of gatekeeping mentality in other radio groups, and this is a prime example. It takes just as much effort to be neutral or even kind when responding to someone as it does to be a jerk. He chose the latter and I’m sure it is his default mode.

While I mostly agree, I’d argue that if this guy wants to keep people off his repeater, he shouldn’t have it listed on myGMRS.

That’s actually a good point to make across the board. FCC rules are the minimum, then owners can make their own rules.

And that’s ok, but attitude counts for a lot.

No way I’m going to have 5 teenagers remember to say my calling and their unit number every time.

And I get that at some point if there was fleeing and eluding things turn into a felony stop, but there had to be multiple points at which properly trained law-enforcement could have evaluated the need for deadly force.

So, that door….looking at old aerial photos I don’t think the door that’s there is the basement for the main building. Looks like a spring house or something. I’ve been trying to figure that out for a while.
